Watch: Tooro Palace turns royal drum upside down in mourning for King Oyo
At Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal City , the official residence of the Tooro monarch, the royal drum has been placed upside down following the death of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

The traditional gesture is a symbol of mourning and signifies that the throne is temporarily unoccupied following the death of the King.

The royal drum holds deep cultural significance in Tooro traditions and is regarded as one of the important symbols of the Kingdom’s authority.
The solemn scene at Karuziika reflects the Kingdom’s grief as the people of Tooro mourn the 34-year-old monarch, who reigned for nearly 31 years.
