I saw blood
Face broken, bones shattered
Teeth plucked out, nails broken
His skin swollen, his dignity stolen
I saw it, I saw it all and I will not remain silent again!
I saw fear
Hands shaking, hair falling
Feet trembling like leaves dropping
Lips stuttering, tongue twisting
I saw it, I saw it all and I will not remain silent again!
I saw evil
Voices shouting, sometimes whispering
Hands carrying a person dying
Still gripping, blood dripping
I saw it, I saw it all and I will not remain silent again!
I saw courage
The men leaving, the man dying
Alone struggling, and then standing
His body anguishing, in darkness crying
I saw it, I saw it all and I will not remain silent again!
I saw a dream
Hope rising, fear departing
Like fog vanishing like smoke lifting
And he was walking, his steps counting
I saw it, I saw it all and I will not remain silent again!
I saw change
People screaming, sound ringing
The forest refusing, to take a man dying
The road whispering, promising healing
I saw it, I saw it all, and I will not remain silent again!
I am a witness of change
I am a defender of dignity
I am a guardian of truth
I am a protector of my brother
You don't know me; I know you
You don't care for me; I do for you
You don't even remember me, I always remember you
I am that tree that
SAW IT ALL!
And I refused to remain silent today.
