East African watchers will have noted interesting developments in this region. A week ago a mini summit of three East African Heads of States namely Museveni Kagame and Uhuru Kenyatta was held in Kampala. Conspicuously absent was Kikwete of Tanzania (Kabila and Nkurunzinza were also not present). Now the Tanzania foreign ministry confirms that as early as February this year invitations to "join in" when Obama visits Tz were sent to Heads of States of Kenya Uganda and Rwanda but as of yesterday- Wednesday, no confirmation of their attendance had been received. It is safe to assume that they will not be "joining in" .
Now: In true African tradition when you have an important visitor from far away lands in your house you would normally invite your neighbours to team up with you to welcome the visitor. If none of your neighbours turn up there is certainly something wrong somewhere.
Tanzania: Your true friends are to the South. Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe South Africa, DRC and (Malawi?) are countries with whom you have cordial relationship and they hold you in high esteem. There are too many uncertainities with your so called friends/neighbours in the present EAC.
Prove me wrong if you can!
