A Special Forces Command (SFC) Captain, Yonasan Tibenderana, has been remanded to custody over allegations of obtaining a Shs200,000 bribe in connection with the processing of a national identity card.

Prosecution alleges that on September 1, 2025, at the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) offices in Kololo, Kampala, Tibenderana obtained Shs200,000 from Juliet Apio, knowing that he would not be able to process the identity card as promised.

Tibenderana was arrested last week and subsequently featured on NIRA’s “Wall of Shame”, where the authority described him as a conman and warned members of the public against dealing with him.

He has since been remanded as the case proceeds through court.
