Tanzania maintained its position as one of the 15 fastest growing economies in the world with its average growth rate of 6,9% between 2005 and the last calendar year. Experts forecast sustained high GDP growth in Tanzania given the recent discovery of gas reserves and prospects for oil reserves. Thus, Russia sees Tanzania as a promising business partner in the nearest feature.
The Russian-African Forum is to open to discussions on the cooperation of Tanzanian and Russian companies, to provide an opportunity for Russian companies, financial and government authorities to get a better understanding of the Tanzanian economy and to create mutual collaboration. - Round Table - Energy«Powering Tanzania – development in the energy sector»Tanzania’s natural gas reserves now stand at 55 trillion cubic feet, up from 46.5 Tcf last June, following finds in blocks off the country’s southeastern coast. With more than 100 Tcf of natural gas already discovered in neighboring Mozambique, the region is poised to become the next natural gas hub on the continent. The Tanzanian energy sector continues to attract global attention due to its unique transformative potential and attractive investment opportunity.
Russia is the world's leading natural gas exporter. Besides Russia is the world's fourth largest electricity producer after the USA, China, and Japan. Roughly 63% of Russia's electricity is generated by thermal plants, 21% by hydro power and 16% comes from nuclear reactors.
The round table is aimed to drive forward the industry and to provide detailed insights into valuable partnerships between Tanzanian and Russian power sector companies. - Round table – Transportation Engineering - «Infrastructure projects and localization of transport engineering products" We would like to open a discussion on product localization and the launching of dealerships and service centers for transport engineering. Due to it’s good geographical location and economy development Tanzania might become the centre for servicing the EAC market (5 countries) and the SADC market (15 countries), as Tanzania is a member of both Communities and actively developing port infrastructure supporting import and further distribution of goods to African countries.
- Panel Discussion – Agriculture "Green revolution in Africa - agriculture development projects "
Agriculture remains the mainstay of the Tanzanian economy, employing the majority of the workforce. Given the rapidly growing world population and the fact that the African continent has the largest share of the world’s uncultivated land, there is a room for agriculture to expand in a sustainable way to meet the growing world demand. This session is to present an overview of the agricultural situation and projects in Tanzania to the participants, to create an opportunity to meet Russian producers and to promote international cooperation.
