Real Madrid (‎Los Blancos) | Special Thread

If this was to happen, at least it happened in a game that was absolutely meaningless. Real Madrid secured 1st place. Knockout stages begin in February. Almost 2 months to prepare.

The only 2 positives. A 22 year old and an 18 year old that looked like they actually wanted to be out there on the pitch.

Special mention to Valverde and Odriozola. They put in maximum effort and looked up for the match.

Gareth Bale needs to come off. Really can’t continue. He’s trying though.

We can't blame the manager for this defeat.
Kikosi kilikuwa poa tu ila makosa madogo kwenye upande wa defense uliigharimu team, japokuwa foward wetu wenyew hawakufanya poa pia, sio mbaya sana japokuwa sikupenda tulivyofungwa, ngoja tuone sasa Jumatatu tutapewa nani round of 16.

Solari presser ahead of Rayo game

Solari: “We want to end the year with a win at home in a game that will demand all our energy, concentration and the fans' support.”
-
Solari: “Rayo have lots of qualities, build well, and move the ball nicely. We have to go out to win it from minute one, with energy, organisation, solidity and the support of the crowd. All the features of the games we have won.”
-
Solari: “How are people not going to believe in Madrid after so many titles? I genuinely believe, and I say this with the best intentions, that to be involved in this constant hyperbole is a bit tasteless.”
-
Solari: “We’re still very much alive in all competitions. Ultimately football is a competitive sport & you go through ups, steady periods & downs. Over the course of their long history, Real Madrid have had many more highs than lows.”
-
Solari: “A lack of intensity and motivation? I don't think so. In Huesca we showed defensive intensity. The CSKA game was different, there were other elements at play.”
-
Solari: “We assess everything and keep the analysis to ourselves. We always go out to win games and we didn't expect that result. It was a useful match in many respects.”
-
Solari: “Those who needed a rest got it, those who needed more playing time got just that, and the guys coming back from injury got some minutes under their belts. We finished top of the group.”
-
Solari: “I think Isco was contesting a corner or a foul. He's a mature, professional guy who has brought much joy to this club and we're sure he'll continue to do so. He works hard every day to give it his all.”
-
Solari: “For you guys, there's a 'but' in every win. Every detail to come out of this club is scrutinised immensely, but our focus cannot be on those things. You do your job and we'll do ours, which is to focus on the Rayo match. We've won 8 of our last ten and that's the right route to take."
-
Solari: “Navas has my utmost respect and admiration as a footballer and as a person. He's brought so much joy to Madridismo and choosing the line-up is the worst part of being a coach, but it's my job.”
-
Solari: “We'll see how Bale is tomorrow and how his ankle has come on. We'll to him and the medical team and make a decision."

The Santiago Bernabéu is celebrating its 71st anniversary

The Santiago Bernabéu stadium is celebrating its 71st anniversary. The legend surrounding one of the greatest arenas in sporting history began back on the 14th of December 1947. On that very date, Real Madrid took on Portuguese side Os Belenenses in a friendly, coming out on top 3-1 with goals from Baringa (who opened the goal-scoring tally at the stadium) and Chus Alonso (2).

The Santiago Bernabéu is currently gearing up for a comprehensive remodel to ensure it maintains its status as the international benchmark. The 21st-Century Stadium will undergo a change of look, becoming an avant-guard venue built to meet the demands of the club's members and increase revenues. In the words of Florentino Pérez: “The new stadium will continue to be the setting that inspires the emotions to leave their mark on Real Madrid's future. It'll be the best stadium in the world, which will see us recognised, at the end of the century, as the best club of the 21st century. A new stadium, heritage and a further source of pride for members and fans alike”.

Following 71 years of history and with the new version of the stadium on the horizon, the Santiago Bernabéu crowd continues to enjoy some of the greatest players in world football. Di Stéfano, Gento, Amancio, Butragueño, Raúl, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ramos are just a few of the names who have created magic moments for the madridista fanbase. Indeed, since 1955, the name of the stadium itself is a tribute to one of the most influential individuals in the club's history: Santiago Bernabéu.

A footballing temple
Over the course of all this time, the Santiago Bernabéu has become one of football's most prestigious venues, hosting many of the sport's greatest games and conjuring up countless unforgettable emotions for fans. By way of example are the four European Cup finals, the 1982 World Cup final and the European Championship final in 1964, or, more recently, the showpiece event of the Copa Libertadores 2018.

Tourist appeal
As a legendary site in the world of sport, fans from around the world come in their droves to visit the stadium on a daily basis, making it a tourist hotspot in the Spanish capital. It also houses the Tour Bernabéu, which takes in the numerous trophies and looks back at the madridistas' history.

GOAAAAAAALL KARIM BENZEMAAAAA!

Great movement and finish by Karim Benzema!

1-0

HALF TIME: Real Madrid 1-0 Rayo Vallecano.

Goals • Karim Benzema

Assists • Lucas Vazquez

Only disappointing thing about that first half is that it’s only 1-0. Really deserved to be up by at least 2 goals. Kroos has been superb today. Asensio has been lack-luster with his final play.
