Game ended 2-0 a cleansheet tonight!

Real Madrid dominated the match with around 60% possession compared to the 40 Espanyol had.

Ronaldo was frustrated tonight, if I could be Zidane, I could sub him instead of Modric.

Navas got to keep a clean sheet which honestly is rare for us at this point.

Overall, it was a decent game nothing special, and up next comes international break. Hopefully our players come back from that healthy, and in form. Till then Hala Madrid!

Zidane reaches 50 LaLiga victories quicker than Guardiola

Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over Espanyol was not only important in the sense of ending the club's poor recent record at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but it also brought up a milestone for Zinedine Zidane.

The French coach reached 50 LaLiga victories and, in doing so, outshone Pep Guardiola's benchmark.

The comparisons between the two coaches are inevitable when you consider the almost unprecedented levels of success that both brought to their respective clubs.

Zidane brought up his 50th LaLiga victory as Los Blancos coach on Sunday after just 65 domestic matches on the bench, surpassing the record set by the current Manchester City coach, for whom it took 67 LaLiga matches.

Over the course of these 65 matches, the former Castilla coach has overseen a complete turnaround in fortunes for the defending European champions and has brought a togetherness to the squad.

In his first full season as coach, he steered Real Madrid to the Spanish league title, a feat that was also achieved by Guardiola.

Inevitably, another battle with Barcelona looms this season as the Madrid club look to put their poor start to the campaign behind them.

In order to retain their title, they will have to overturn a seven point deficit to their Catalan rivals.

Florentino Perez confirms Real Madrid will have a women's football team
It has been confirmed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that the club are planning to start a women's football team.

The setting up of it will be focused on training and development, rather than competing.

Whilst many Spanish sides have women's football teams, Real Madrid have yet to make a move into the area and remain without a women's side.

Now though, that is about to change.

"First of all, we want to make a women's football department, for training," Perez told members on Sunday.

"We aren't going to bring a team with players from other countries, but women's football deserves a department, even if it is amateur."

The president had already revealed that the club was planning to open a women's football team in an interview with MARCA in June.

No break for Theo

After suffering from a partial dislocation of his right shoulder against Real Sociedad, Theo Hernandez is in recovery mode and is expecting to return to football after the international break.

The left-back, who started at Anoeta, could not finish the match and has since missed four of Real Madrid's fixtures (Real Betis, Deportivo Alaves, Borussia Dortmund and Espanyol).

The former-Atletico Madrid man is keen to get back especially with Marcelo's injury meaning that there is a clear place for him in the team.

Hernandez will work throughout the international pause in order to be available in Los Blancos' next meeting against Getafe in Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

That is the goal, but he will also keep Zinedine Zidane's maxim of not forcing recoveries in mind.

Real Madrid have caught the injury bug, as Dani Carvajal, Marcelo and Theo Hernandez have all been sidelined. In fact, only Achraf Hakimi is available among the fullbacks and the French coach has used Nacho in this position in their last three games played in La Liga and Champions League.

2017, Isco's year

Only a year ago and Isco's position at Real Madrid appeared far from clear and in fact he told MARCA in an October, 2016, interview: "I am not stupid, if Ancelotti, Benitez and Zidane do not start me then the reason is down to me."

However, it was at the bleakest point, when talk that he may leave and even go to Barcelona, that he finally came to life in a Real shirt and not just becoming a regular in the side but also making an important impact.

The turning point was against Sporting Gijon in a game where he capped a fine display with a goal and from there he has gone on to regularly find the back of the net at crucial times to help Madrid such as at the Calderon to ensure a place in the Champions League final.

He went on to win his third Champions League and then struck again to help Madrid win the European Super Cup and last Sunday he scored in the first victory at home against Espanyol.

In 2017, Isco has also become a reference for a new generation in the Spain national team and he will look to deliver at the Russia World Cup alongside another up and coming star in Asensio. They are a pair that are reason for plenty of hope and expectation for the future.

With a new contract, the fans behind him and the confidence of Zidane, it is a positive situation for Isco who has been given licence to play his preferred style on the pitch.

"He plays like you play in the street which is what I like. There is not the worry if things do not work out and he has patience," said Zidane.

"At the moment he looks very comfortable on the pitch and I am pleased that we are seeing the best version of Isco."

There are three months to go before the end of his best year professionally, where he became the player that he was expected to become.

Toni Kroos: Leaving Bayern Munich was the right move

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos said he made the right move for his career by joining the Spanish club from Bayern Munich in 2014.

He has become a key player at Real and won plenty of silverware including three Champions Leagues in four seasons.

"My change of team was correct, in fact, from my point of view there is no doubt about it," Kroos revealed.

"Clearly, if you go abroad to a top club, it means one more step in your development.

"Carlo Ancelotti wanted me in Madrid, and had bet on me."

Kroos has also opened up on his move to the Spanish capital and the differences between the two sides.

"Before leaving I was seen as a good player, perhaps as a very good player, but as one of the many players that Bayern had," he reflected.

"But if you play as a Real footballer you get even more attention.

"Maybe that part from the fans I do not like so much."

The German player starts almost every Real Madrid game and has thanked his French coach for believing in him.

"From the beginning, he gave me a lot of confidence, and in his two years [with Real Madrid] he's played me in almost every game, especially in the big games," he indicated.

"Trust me, I will always try to give everything for the team. We have a good relationship.

"A friendly relationship with the coach is important for each player. "

Megia Davila takes over

Wearing the pitch delegate bracelet, this is Carlos Megia Davila, who has taken over from the historic and beloved Agustin Herrerin, who has been at Real Madrid for 50 years.

Davila has been in and around the bench at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for four matches in LaLiga, plus one more in the Champions League, but he is by no means a rookie at the club or in the world of football.

Since arriving in 2009, he has played the role of referee delegate.

The Real board has a distant relationship with the refereeing body, and sought an interlocutor.

With 14 years of experience as a first-team referee, Megia Davila was the perfect candidate and he has been in charge of clarifying any notion or modification of the rules, or ways of acting before the referees, to the players.

The Madrilenian takes charge every match day to help the referee team in everything they need.

In a season in which the club, after only seven match days in LaLiga, has already shown its displeasure with the refereeing body, the work of Megia in the future can be very important.

As for Agustin Herrerin, who has been pitch delegate for Real Madrid since 1999 and is on medical leave, he is well liked by all footballers and the club.

For the moment, his work will be performed by Megia Davila.
