The dispute arose after supplier Cissy Nanyange alleged that State Minister Justine Nameere owed her Shs150 million for coffee seedlings supplied for local distribution.

Nameere denied responsibility for the alleged debt, maintaining that the contract was handled by Masaka City NRM Chairperson Rogers Bulegeya, whom she identified as the principal contractor.

The matter was discussed during a mediation meeting on July 28, chaired by Senior Presidential Adviser and Minister Balaam Barugahara, where both sides presented their positions.

Following the meeting, President Museveni instructed State House Comptroller Jane Barekye to ensure that the suppliers are paid in full, with a Shs200 million settlement.

The directive has left many questioning whether some members are immune to the anti-corruption sweep in the country seeing as the same ministers have been publicly arresting other civil servants for similar reasons.
