A post-mortem examination has revealed that youth mobiliser Cecil Ouma died from a single gunshot wound that caused severe internal bleeding, as investigations into his death continue.
The autopsy, conducted by both government and family pathologists, established that the bullet entered through Ouma's left forearm near the elbow before penetrating his chest, puncturing both lungs, fracturing his spine, and lodging behind the spinal cord. Medical experts concluded that the extensive internal bleeding caused by the injuries was the immediate cause of death.
The pathologists recovered the bullet from Ouma's body and handed it over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for ballistic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident allegedly occurred while Ouma was travelling in the same vehicle as Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs. The PS has since recorded a statement with investigators and expressed condolences to Ouma's family, pledging full cooperation with authorities. Three members of his security detail have also been questioned, while two firearms linked to the officers were seized for forensic examination.
