Pope Francis says it's okay for parents to hit their children if they misbehave, according to the Telegraph UK.
Francis' gave a speech in St. Peter's Square on Wednesday where he recalled a conversation he had with a parent who told him that he hit his children to punish them when they misbehave, the Telegraph reports.
"One time, I heard a father say, ‘At times I have to hit my children a bit, but never in the face so as not to humiliate them.' "That's great. He had a sense of dignity. He should punish, do the right thing, and then move on," said Francis.
The remarks came following his comments last month after the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris, France in which he said one could not make inflammatory remarks about one's faith without expecting retaliation.
