MUHIMU: Kama wewe ni Web Designer/Programmer

Facebook technology stack consist of application written in many language, including PHP and many others. Facebook still using PHP but it has built a compiler for it so it can be turned into native code on.

Facebook doesn’t use PHP for its core system, at Facebook, they uses C++ heavily on back end system. Apparently Facebook has many things built in PHP. Actually it’s not the real PHP, Facebook has written alternative version of PHP that is, HipHop’s HPHP’c which help to convert PHP code into C++ which shows that FB not using PHP, but by still using PHP.

All languages has principals..
You guy, get serious. Please put serious answers. I don't understand how what you wrote relates to m question. FYI, PHP4 is no longer in air. It died long ago...Listen to PHP website

PHP Site said:
The PHP 4 documentation was removed from the PHP Manual in August 2014, approximately six years after PHP 4 reached its end of life. However, we have provided downloadable copies of the manual for anyone who would need it.

Hatupondi but we try challenge the design pattern behind the system so we can make faster and secure system.

Haijalishi unatumia lugha gani, mwisho wa siku kila line of code unayoandika lazima uwaze security. Mimi huwa naamini umuhimu wa kuchagua lugha moja halafu unakomaa nayo kweli kweli. Sasa hivi tupo kwenye PHP7 ambayo imeboreshwa, ipo na kasi hata kuizidi HHVM ya Facebook.

Python ni general purpose language which means you can create almost everything with it, Python has larger support from bigger organizations and it's community is far larger Python has only one challenger which is R in terms of Data science.. Machine learning, Python is faster than almost all scripting language even MATLAB, PHP , Python can extended into C, Java(Cython) pia ipython,

Also in terms of Hardware programming Python is the second after C/C++.

I do a lot of Rails development and just from looking at the source codes of those two sites that you claim to be running on Rails, i can say that they are not. why?

1. Rails has a way of handling assets, which means assets (js, css) are always minified in production, looking at those two, they are not minified which is bad practice because every css/js call slows down the app.

2. Using Rails to just spin out a website is the same as using a hammer to kill a mosquito, Its an overkill and doesn't make sense at all. If you're doing rails, you'd not do that

3. You don't host Rails like PHP, with PHP you just dump the files into the server, change a few files and you're good to go. With Rails you have to set up a lot of things, servers, nginx/apache etc etc, Its too much work for just a corporate website, plus you will need to buy maybe a VPS (i.e you can't just use shared hosting like most php hosting), so it costs a bit more to host a Rails app than a normal PHP site.

I don't know about your 'strong future' claim regarding Python, you might be right, but the languages with the most promising future right now, especially in writing back-end systems are Golang, Rust and Elixir.
Why? Because Elixir built on top of Erlang, which means functional programming, concurrency & fault tolerance for free. Go - concurrent asynchronous programming is part of the language, same applies to Rust which also has great memory management

extension sio reliable way ya kujua. Unaweza ku-fake ext.
I think sites za Watabe Labs akina zech zimeandikwa kwa RoR. But tusubiri aje ahakikishe mwenyewe!
Our site watabelabs.com is just using ExpressionEngine CMS which is of course written in CodeIngiter, a php framework. It makes more sense to use php because of hosting issues.
We use RoR for writing systems for clients and for internal software. Example of a RoR app we created which is in production is lawyerskenya.co.ke.

I have used also Erlang, python is multi paradigm .

You are absolutely correct.. We just upload php files on servers then we are good to go, things a different with Rails ,Python even Node Js
