Mvulana huyo kwa jina JANI ametunukiwa $10,000 (£7,000) baada ya kugundua udhaifu huo uliowezesha mtu kuingia kwenye mtandao huo wa kusambaza picha na kufuta maoni ya watu.
Jambo la kushangaza zaidi ni kwamba kisheria haruhusiwi kutumia mtandao huo hadi atimize umri wa miaka 13. Facebook, inayomiliki Instagram, ilichukua hatua
upesi na kuondoa udhaifu huo. Sasa, ndiye mtu mchanga zaidi kutunukiwa pesa kwa kugundua udhaifu katika mitandao ya kampuni hiyo.
Aliandikia wasimamizi wa mtandao huo barua pepe Februari kuwafahamisha kuhusu ugunduzi wake. Wataalamu wa mtandao huo walimfungulia akaunti ndipo aweze kuthibitisha madai yake na akafanikiwa.

Jani, who lives in Helskini, found asecurityflaw that meant he could delete other users' comments. The company say it "quickly fixed" the flaw but rewarded the boy for disclosing the information.
To prove he had found the security vulnerability Jani (his surname was not revealed) deleted a comment on a test account set-up by staff at Instagram. However, the method worked on other accounts.
Facebook, which owns Instagram, has a "bug bounty" for developers and hackers who can undercover flaws in security.
"We recognise and reward security researchers who help us to keep people safe by reporting vulnerabilities in our services," it says.
