Question. What is Liquid Glass?
Professor. Put in its simplest form Liquid Glass is just glass as we all know it but suspended in liquid form at a molecular level. In order to keep this glass in liquid form it needs to be carried in either water or ethanol.
Question. Where does it come from?
Professor. Liquid Glass, in the scientific world (my world), is better known as Silicon Dioxide (SiO2). SiO2 is a chemical found in quartz, sand and even inside our human bodies. Question. So is this chemical harmful for us?
Professor. No, as I have mentioned Liquid Glass comes from a natural source and it is 100% organic and eco-friendly.
Question. But you mention it uses alcohol. Is this not dangerous?
Professor. That is correct. Liquid Glass needs to be carried (or if you prefer kept) in either alcohol or water, and our alcohol is organic. Once applied the carrier evaporates leaving a pure nano-layer of glass. At Crystalusion Limited we believe in only using eco-friendly and organic technology in our products.

Question. What does “Superphobic” mean?

Question. Wow, and have these characteristics been certified?

Professor. Each of our coatings have different certifications depending on their use and requirments. For example; Crystalusion™ has been laboratory tested to ASTM C1624-05 Quantitative Single Point Scratch Testing using a 0.2mm tip radius Rockwell diamond and proven to withstand up to 56n before showing visible signs of scratching. That’s 600% more resistance than a traditional screen protector. It’s also worth mentioning that under the same Rockwell scratch test Gorilla glass 3 shows visible signs of scratching at 11n.

Crystalusion™ has also been granted ASTM antimicrobial certification. It has been tested to ASTM E2180 standard and is shown to reduce bacteria levels by 99.9% when tested with Salmonella, Staph. aureus & E. coli. Question. How long does the coating last?

Professor. There is no glue or adhesive agent in our coatings as these bond (or stick) to the substrate (or surface) using what is known in physics as the Van der Wels effect, something I can explain later if you want. Therefore it can only be removed with abrasion and usage over time.

Does that mean that once applied Liquid Glass is permanent?

Professor. No it is typically not permanent even though we do have a coating that can last for up to 25 years. 99% of our coatings will last between 9 months and 2 years depending where they are applied and how much abrasion the surface is exposed to. This includes human abrasion through touch, wear and tear as well as environmental abrasion such as wind, dirt, rain etc…
