I once reffed a U-14 match because the official didn't show and both teams wanted to play. Even though the result didn't count the match was played as if it were a real league game.
Gave me a whole new perspective that you don't get from the sideline. And running backwards is not easy past a certain age...
Diosesdel10: I agree, some folks are just too sensitive to watch football.
24 hour online media has it's own agend for pushing ref controversies, to generate hits and comments.
Officiating is different, it's a snatch judgement call and you just have to be OK with it. One thing I actually like about the game is how it seems to mirror real life, American sports seem a bit sterile and black-and-white. The ref, and what he sees and interprets is a random element that you can't plan for.
EVERYBODY INCLUDED, managers, players, fans, and especially the Special Translator over there in Spain.
you can bet he'll complain about the ref in Valencia tomorrow.
Either way, STOP IT OCK. Those refs don't want to FRUCK up, they just do. It happens and it evens out over the course of the season so MOVE ON to some Other Shiit.
I think the FA should ban me too,, I think i just dropped an F bomb on the phone with UPS as they have had a package for 5 days now and havnt delivered it to me..
agree with you, dutch and ATL, about helping the refs with TV replays........Even though there will still be human interpretation at least it will aid the ref in using his/her judgment. As for pk, at least it will show lack of contact, if there is none, and a yellow card will be issued pronto to the diver.
yeah, let me clarify,, I am not saying video for whether or not it was a PK, as that will always be up for human discretion whether or not we like it, I meant to say, Pk, whether or not the foul called happened in or out of the box
dutchboy. Lets get one thing straight. With the rules at it is, not even a video will help the PK's. goal line tech yes. Cuz how do you debate a contact for a PK. Look at the two PK's given on Cesc and Kyute. Was one more contact that the other?

Sir Trevor Brooking insists Kenny Dalglish's blast at Arsene Wenger was "totally different" to the one that got Wayne Rooney into trouble.
Brooking, the Football Association's director of football development, called for action to be taken against Rooney after his actions during the Premier League clash at West Ham.
Liverpool boss Dalglish was picked up on camera making comments towards Arsenal counterpart Wenger after Sunday's 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
But Brooking believes it does not deserve to be talked about in the same way as Rooney's tirade.
He said: "It was totally different (from Rooney). The reaction straight into the camera (from Rooney) was the difference.
"I can understand why the incident at the West Ham match led to action being taken but in this one I don't think there is any comparison.
"Wherever I've been since the West Ham-Manchester United game, I don't think I've met anyone who thought it was anything other than the right decision."
Brooking believes clarification is needed regarding any such incidents in future so there is no room for dispute.
He said: "What we have to do is get all stakeholders - the Premier League, Football League, PFA [Professional Footballers' Association] and LMA [League Managers' Association] - on the same hymnsheet.
"I'd like to feel you can get to a stage where everyone just accepts the decision rather than muddying the waters.
"If anyone is still unsure why the action was taken then we should clarify it so that it's consistent.
"There has to be a clear understanding. Clarification would help us avoid a continued debate."
Brooking reckons it is unfair to point the finger at big stars such as Rooney when people discuss a perceived lack of respect in football.
He said: "We are always conscious as managers and players that what is reflected at the weekend in the professional game is an issue.
"I do understand that high-profile figures do have a responsibility.
"On my travels with grassroots football, you get people saying 'you've got to improve that sort of thing' - and we will try to improve it.
"But I also think it is important from the grassroots level that you set your own standards.
"If you are running a team, I'd like to think the people involved will set those standards.
"I think sometimes we use someone else's behaviour as an excuse not to behave properly ourselves."

Carlo Ancelotti has declared Fernando Torres will score for Chelsea before the end of the season.
Torres has now gone 871 minutes without finding the net for club and country and bookmakers have begun taking bets on whether he will break his duck before the campaign is over.
But manager Ancelotti had no doubt today that the Spain striker would begin repaying his £50million transfer fee in Chelsea's last six games of the season.
"He will score," said Ancelotti, who refused to confirm whether the 27-year-old would start tomorrow night's Premier League match against Birmingham after being restricted to an eight-minute cameo at West Brom on Saturday.
"He can score if he plays.
"It's very difficult to change the team that played so well against West Brom, not just for the result, not just for the performance. They did very well against West Bromwich."
Ancelotti revealed he and his coaching staff were not employing any special methods to get Torres scoring.
He said: "We are working with him like we are with the other strikers. He has exercises to score - shooting, crossing - but nothing different from the others.
"I think he wants to score and he's not happy for this reason. I would like to see my players every time happy and with confidence.
"It's not a good moment for Fernando, but I want to do my best to support him."
I can't tell if your serious or not ajax95, Torres used to be good a few seasons back, but he hasn't been able to find his form and I'm seriously doubting if he ever will again. When he's been on the pitch lately he has seemed completely apathetic. Best since Rivaldo, are you serious? There are at least 20 strikers I can think of off the top of my head that outclass Torres as of this season. Aside from the fact that Torres is a complete fruit. And Spaniards being notoriously soft? Where did you repeat that one from? What do you even mean by that? I have a sneaking suspicion that you are Chilean....
i googleed torres last sunday and found out that torres is a spaniard. it was really a shock to me as the spanish players are notoriously soft. torres is nothing like that, he is a relentless shooter, the best pure shoot since rivaldo, torres is much better than rivaldo. chelsea needs to move anelka to make room for torres. Fernando Torres may be a spanish by birth, but his playing style is all chilean--100% chile soccer.
Dio are you kidding? There's no way in hell Chelsea will be selling Fernando Torres in the summer of 2011, anything past that who knows it's football. He's not use to style chelsea are playing this season, this slow passing around the box until you find a opening. He's use to attacking defenders, taking them one and one making space for himself. Also Chelsea have never replaced Robben type of player ( I know he was injured alot while he in West London) and duff. Chelsea lacks creativity badly has for a while now. I said before David Silva went to the wrong time, I also think not Torres but the whole time would benefit with Chelsea getting the right spots they need and stop playing players off reputation's from years ago.
i don't think getting rid of him would be the SOLUTION tho as i don't think he's in the tranfer plans of any team, COLCHONEROS included, but he needs to change something. HIS HAIR, HIS #, His WORK ETHIC, SOMETHING, ANYTHING, EVERYTHING.
He needs a fresh start and maybe it won't be til next season so then i'll be ready to give the guy another chance, but until then he needs to ride the bench in place of more productive players... i mean even Kalou's pea-sized brain is finding ways to score and not look too silly out there....
He can start tomorrow by coming in the game and working hard and making good passes to his teammates instead of trying to strike the ball and mis-hit it...
BUM - maybe he should concentrate on creating chances for his teammates and they, in return, might be inclined to return the favour.
I say go with DROGBA in the meantime. We, CHELSEA< can't afford to slip out of the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE spots and miss out on the competition b/c then things might go the way of LiverPOol and that's AIN'T GOOD.
so Until that CL spot is locked, and i mean third, PLAY DROGBA and let him get his stats up at least, that way if CHELSEA do sell him, they can get some respectable Quid for that MONSTER.
ANd there's plenty of midfielders/wingers who are not entirely satisfied with their current situation at their respective teams, including Adamn Johnson and D. Silva at City, Jeremy Menez at ROma, Nuri Sahin at Dortmund, so there's plenty options there
Torres will probably come good but his slump has been going on since well before he was a Chelsea player.
He looks like he couldn't score on the Albert Dock right now...
Ppl really have a short memory of how great his scoring prowess is. This happens to most great players untill they find their groove, it has happend to Andy cole before dwight came in and saved his career and more recently Rooney. Ancelotti is very wise in assisting Torres to regain is form as if this happens the Prem would be a lock for Chelsea. This is just a necessary lesson in humility that will help him grow as a player. I predict he will have a fantastic 2012 , I cant wait.
Chelsea need to find a legit winger and attacking midfielder in the summer. Let Anelka & Malouda go. Bring Sturridge back. Manage Lamps time better... Torres needs service, I didnt think he was really offsides when he scored vs west brom.
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
