Mosha asubiri uchaguzi Yanga-Nchunga

AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato is confident he will recover from injury in time to play against Inter Milan in the city derby on April 2.

Pato sprained his left ankle in Milan's 1-0 defeat at Palermo last weekend and is set to miss Brazil's international friendly against Scotland in London on Sunday.
"There are still many days left until April 2," he said.
"The ankle is better. I really hope to play against Inter Milan. The fans should be calm. We are still top of the league ahead of Inter."
Should Pato recover, it would be great news for AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri considering that Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the derby through suspension.
Ibrahimovic was handed a three-match ban for punching rival defender Marco Rossi in his team's 1-1 draw against Bari earlier this month.
Inter have cut the gap with Serie A leaders AC Milan to just two points with nine games remaining.

    No Pato, No Party.

Going in as underdogs seriously takes off the pressure, even though we're still top of the table. I hope Leonardo is boo-ed.

Maldini333, couldn't agree anymore. At times, Allegri has been genious but then again starting Seedorf and Gattuso while keeping Boateng and Robinho on the bench is just asking to lose. If Seedorf starts, Milan will lose the derby. I'm hoping to see this lineup against Inter: Abbiati; Abate, Nesta; Silva; Emanuelson (praying for it); Gattuso, Boateng, Flamini (I know Van Bommel will start in one of these roles though); Robinho, Cassano, PATO!

as i mentioned in another post, i believe Allegri has mis-managed Milan. I still can't figure out why he would play Seedorf and Gattuso at the same time for an entire game....Flamini then has to cover the ground that these two can no longer cover which in turns leads to Falmini's ineffectiveness...let the young kids play...let's see Merkel and Emanuelson and Strasser...and why hasn't Didac played?...please, someone enlighten me. I think it's a matter of having players to choose from. With Milan, Leonardo just had to deal with the few good players he was given. I believe that with Allegri's team, he would be much higher up the table than the current.

I'm looking forward to this game!

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini says Javier Pastore will remain at the club next season, amid reports of interest from a number of clubs.
The highly-rated Argentinian playmaker has been a reported target of several European clubs, including Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester City.

"Pastore wants to remain at Palermo," Zamparini said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "He is a very intelligent man, who wants to improve.
"He has decided to remain with us for another year."
Pastore has also attracted the attentions of Serie A clubs Napoli and Roma, both keen to sign the 21-year-old, who joined Palermo in 2009 from Huracan.
"I have already turned down a 50million euro offer for Pastore," Zamparini said. "Even if Chelsea were to make an offer this year, he would not move.
"Barcelona already made an offer and I said to them that this year he would not leave."
Pastore is Palermo's top scorer with 10 league goals in 30 appearances so far this season and is under contract with the Serie A club until June 2014.

Alberto Aquilani's agent says the on-loan Liverpool midfielder is likely to sign a permanent contract with Juventus at the end of the season.
Aquilani was allowed to return to Serie A by former Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson last August after just one injury-afflicted season in the Premier League.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

And Aquilani's representative Franco Zavaglia has suggested his client is ready to extend his stay in Turin this summer despite being linked with a return to Roma.
"Aquilani to Roma? That will be difficult. Juve has the priority and I don't think they will let him escape," he told Italian broadcaster Radio Mana Mana.
"On June 30 Juventus will be able to buy Aquilani and they should act now.
"They could sign him by making three to four delayed payments, a system which was established last summer.
"The agreement between Liverpool and Juventus is already there, it all depends on the willingness of Juventus.
"I think Aquilani will stay at Juventus and there will not be any obstacles."

This may just be agent talk. Juve have a very ambitious summer signing list, and if they get just half of them, they may not have enough $ left to sign Alberto. I'm hoping they send Melo packing so they can keep him, but we will see.

rot, Kaka is definitely not in their plans. I think the only places he may go is Chelsea (Ancelotti) or Milan. So I'm hoping Chelsea don't win the EPL only so Carlo is sacked and goes to Roma which will make Chelsea a much less attractive place for Kaka to want to go.

LONDON

Neymar has admitted it would be a dream come true if he joins Chelsea.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

The Santos striker, who scored both of Brazil's goals in the friendly win over Scotland at the Emirates, told Sky Sports News: "Chelsea's a great club. It's a dream of every player to play at Chelsea.
"If one day it happens, I will be very happy to come."
Chelsea already has three Brazilians in its squad in David Luiz, Ramires and Alex, and although Neymar insists he is happy at Santos he is clearly ready to consider a move to Stamford Bridge.
"When the moment comes we are going to sit with my family. We are going to think about it and discuss the options," he said.
"Last year, when Chelsea came, we sat together and we thought it wasn't the time yet.
"If it happens this year, we are going to sit again and going to discuss it."
Luiz, who has flourished since joining Chelsea from Benfica in January, said
after Brazil's win over Scotland on Sunday: "I am very happy because I'm at one of the best teams in the world.
"I would love it if Neymar came to Chelsea. He is going to be one of the best players in the world.''

Vasco da Gama says former Brazil playmaker Juninho will join the club after his contract with Qatar's Al Gharafa ends in June.

Vasco president Roberto Dinamite says Juninho has agreed to sign with the club in his return to Brazilian football after more than 10 years playing abroad.
Dinamite says the 36-year-old Juninho wants to end his career with Vasco, the club where he thrived before joining France's Lyon in 2001. He was playing in Qatar since 2009.
Juninho was a member of Brazil's squad in the 2006 World Cup and scored a goal in the team's 4-1 victory against Japan in the group stage. Brazil was eliminated by France in the quarterfinals.
Vasco is a four-time Brazilian champion, but it hasn't won the league title since 2000.

Forlan: No easy ride for Ireland

Updated Mar 29, 2011 7:41 AM ET
Striker Diego Forlan has promised the Republic of Ireland's younger players Uruguay will not cut them any slack when the sides meet in Dublin tonight.
Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has named a largely inexperienced team to face the World Cup semi-finalists at the Aviva Stadium after sending home the likes of Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne, Damien Duff and Kevin Kilbane in the wake of Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier victory over Macedonia.
That means starts for 20-year-old James McCarthy and Ciaran Clark, 21, in a side which boasts a total of just 103 senior caps, six fewer than Kilbane alone.
However, Atletico Madrid star Forlan insists the South Americans will treat the Irish team just as they would any other.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

He said: "They played a qualifying game on Saturday and some of the players have been playing a lot of games and have been rested.
``But we came here to play a nice game against Ireland. It doesn't matter who they are playing, we are going to do our best to win the game.
``I know the team, I have been watching some games and we are always watching players. We know it will be a really tough team with good players.
``It doesn't matter whether they are young or old, every player all over the world when they get the chance to play for their national team is going to try to do their best. In this case we expect that.''
Uruguay arrived in Dublin to be greeted by bright sunshine, a far cry from the conditions they found in Tallin on Friday night as they slipped to a surprising 2-0 defeat by Estonia.
The game was played in freezing temperatures and with snow falling, and while there was a chill in the air at the Aviva Stadium the following evening, Forlan admitted the conditions when he and his team-mates trained there on Monday afternoon were far more to his liking.
He said: ``This is like summer for us after being in Estonia, where it was really freezing.
``We played quite well in the first half, but in the second half, the pitch was very hard and it was difficult for us.''
Uruguay will be without injured Liverpool striker Luis Suarez tomorrow night, but the man who played alongside him at last summer's World Cup finals in South Africa has not been at all surprised by how quickly he has found his feet in the English game since his $US 36.5million January move to Anfield.
Forlan said: ``I'm really happy for him. He's a good friend and he's at a good club.
``The way he is doing it now is really nice and I hope he will continue doing that.
``I think he's a great player - he showed that at the World Cup and with Ajax. He has this opportunity and now he is doing really well.''
Forlan, of course, had his own spell in the Premier League with Manchester United earlier in his career, and has been linked with a return to England in recent months.
However, he remained diplomatic when asked about the speculation.
He said: ``It would have to be really good offer. At the moment there is none, so I didn't consider anything.
``But at the moment, I have two years more of a contract at Atletico Madrid and it's a good team and I am happy there. You never know.''

Corinthians has confirmed that it has signed former AS Roma striker Adriano.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

The Brazilian club didn't release details of the deal but published a photo of Adriano holding a Corinthians jersey on its website.
Adriano helped Flamengo win the 2009 Brazilian league but played sparingly with Roma on his return last year to European football, where he also previously played for Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Parma.
His contract with Roma was cut short earlier this month by mutual agreement.
Adriano gave an exclusive interview to Globo TV late Sunday saying Ronaldo, who recently retired from the club, was crucial in convincing him to reach a deal with Corinthians, Brazil's second most popular club behind Flamengo.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has urged Brazil to speed up its preparations for the 2014 World Cup.
Blatter said Brazil's project was ''not progressing very quickly,'' and lagged behind even where South Africa stood when the successful 2010 host fell behind with its construction schedule.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

''I must say that in comparison with the state of play between South Africa and Brazil three years before the World Cup, Brazil is behind South Africa. It's a fact,'' Blatter said. Referring to how little time remained, Blatter said ''it's tomorrow. The Brazilians think it's just the day after tomorrow. What they shall do is to give a little bit more speed now in the organization.''
Blatter said the slow progress meant Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo could be left off the program for the 2013 Confederations Cup which is designed as a test event for the 32-team tournament.
''The World Cup stadiums are still in the process of being discussed between the city mayors and the state governors,'' he said.

Blatter remarked that the qualifying draw for FIFA's six confederations is scheduled in July. Brazilian authorities still have not agreed on a host city for the event. Speaking at a Swiss government-backed media event, he expressed optimism that a proven goalline technology system would be in place in Brazil.
Blatter also promised FIFA would have a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and bad behavior on and off the field.
He outlined a new project for the FIFA Congress on June 1, where he's hoping to win the election for a fourth four-year term.
''I will present something very special there but I will not now disclose what is the content,'' Blatter said. ''It's to fight corruption, all cheating and discrimination.
''We also want to appeal to players, coaches, referees to behave on the field of play,'' he said, adding that illegal betting and matchfixing would be addressed.
Blatter acknowledged that Swiss public authorities had called on FIFA to be more transparent after corruption allegations clouded bidding contests for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups last year.
FIFA's ethics panel barred two executive committee members from voting, and suspended four other senior officials from duty. The two voters, Nigerian Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii from Tahiti, have said they will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn their sanctions of three years and one year, respectively.
Blatter said the subject would be an important item on the congress agenda.
''We're looking at our game. We want to be transparent when it comes to activities that are, let's say, forbidden,'' he said.
However, Blatter said he had rejected requests from Swiss authorities that members of FIFA's judicial committees should be nominated by people from outside football's governing body.
The FIFA president suggested that the Swiss parliament and cantons (states) would not accept having outside bodies choose their legal officials.
''If it is valid for the government, it shall be valid for FIFA,'' Blatter said.

Police: No reports of racist taunts against Neymar

LONDON (AP)

London police received no official reports of racist taunts at Sunday's exhibition between Brazil and Scotland despite complaints by Neymar that he had been targeted by fans.
Neymar scored both goals in Brazil's 2-0 win and said jeers he received from Scottish fans had been racially motivated.
A Scotland fan group has said any jeers were in response to what fans saw as the Santos striker faking injury, and the Scottish Football Association joined in refuting suggestions of racism.
The officer in charge of police at the Emirates Stadium, where the match was played, backed the Scotland fans.
''The Scottish fans' behavior was first class,'' match commander Mark Sheeran said Monday. ''There were no issues at all inside the stadium.''
A banana was also thrown from the crowd, landing next to a huddle of Brazil players as they celebrated Neymar's 77th-minute penalty with the 19-year-old striker.
But the banana - a fruit sometimes hurled by racist fans at black players - was apparently thrown from the North Stand of the Emirates Stadium occupied by Brazil fans.
The 11,500 members of the Scotland Supporters Club at the match were located in the South Stand.
''The Scottish FA has contacted the Brazilian football federation and the match organizers, Kentaro, to inform them of our information and of our supporters' unhappiness at the unfounded accusations,'' the SFA said in a statement.
Supporters did jeer Neymar for much of the match. They thought he had faked injury following an apparently innocuous first-half clash with Scotland midfielder Scott Brown.
Neymar's on-field treatment held up play and he was then slow in making his way to the sideline as the referee tried to restart play.
''The reason Neymar was booed was because we believed he was feigning injury during the course of the game,'' said Hamish Husband, spokesman for Scotland fan group Association of Tartan Army Clubs. ''Racism has no place within the Tartan Army and if it did exist it would be stamped out immediately as we are self policing.''

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA

Costa Rica head coach Ricardo La Volpe has hit back at Argentina boss Sergio Batista ahead of Tuesday's friendly.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

Batista had criticised Argentina-born Lavolpe when he was coach at Boca Juniors in 2006 and Velez Sarsfield in 2007.
La Volpe told Argentinian TV station TyC Sports: "In the past he said I had to get used to Argentinian football. He forgot I played and grew up in Argentinian football.
"He was in a bunker and now he is the coach of the Argentinian national team."
La Volpe, who coached Mexico in the 2006 World Cup, has made copious notes on how to beat Argentina and is looking to cause an upset in San Jose.

He said: "If I have to win through dead balls, I would work a hundred hours for that."
Batista was pleased with Argentina's form in the first half of their 1-1 draw with the United States.
He said: "The first 45 minutes were brilliant. I hope we can play the way Barcelona play. I hope, but we need time.

"The national team has its own identity and great, talented players."

Lionel Messi admits the two friendly games are just part of the build-up to the main goal this year - the Copa America to be staged in Argentina.

The Barcelona star said: "All of us wanted to beat the United States, but we must focus on the Copa America. That is the important goal. We must keep this idea.

"The more we play together, the better. There is a short time ahead of the main goal."

The match is sold out and Costa Rican FA president Eduardo Li has called for Batista to ensure Messi plays.
Li said: "If Messi does not play, it would be impolite behavior (from Argentina).
"Messi's arrival in Costa Rica is like Pele's visit 40 years ago. We are all excited. This is a unique event for the Costa Rican national team and the whole country too."

''It was beautiful,'' said Ceni, who was the third goalkeeper in Brazil's squad when it won the 2002 World Cup. ''As a goalkeeper you don't enter the match thinking about scoring a goal, but it happened just as I wanted: with a free-kick, deciding an important match. For me, it doesn't matter that it was against Corinthians, but for the fans it must have been important.''
It was Ceni's 56th goal from a free-kick, while the others have come from penalties.
FIFA says Ceni has 98 goals, but the goalkeeper counts two he scored in unofficial friendlies - one against a combined Santos and Flamengo team in 1998 and the other against Russian club Uralan Elista in an exhibition tournament in 2000. Even by FIFA's count, he is the goalkeeper with the most goals ever scored.
Ceni's goal on Sunday also meant a lot for Sao Paulo, allowing the club to end an 11-match winless streak against Corinthians, the team's biggest rival. Sao Paulo hadn't beaten Corinthians since February 2007.
Forward Dagoberto had opened the scoring for Sao Paulo with a shot from outside the area in the 39th, and striker Dentinho scored for Corinthians with a long-range shot in the 67th.
Corinthians had two players sent off because of hard fouls - right back Alessandro in the 63rd and Dentinho in the 72nd. Sao Paulo striker Dagoberto was sent off in the 68th, also because of a dangerous tackle.
Corinthians is set to officially announce the signing of former Brazil striker Adriano in the coming days, while Sao Paulo will introduce striker Luis Fabiano to its fans on Tuesday.

The draw between Corinthians and Sao Paulo allowed Luiz Felipe Scolari's Palmeiras to take the lead in the 20-team standings after it beat Bragantino 3-0 on Saturday.
Palmeiras has one point more than Sao Paulo, Corinthians and Santos after 16 rounds. Santos stayed close by beating Ituano 3-2 in Itu despite the absence of striker Neymar, who scored twice in Brazil's 2-0 win over Scotland in a friendly in London on Sunday.
The top eight clubs will reach the tournament's quarterfinals. There are three rounds left in the group stage.
Defender Thiago Heleno scored twice for Palmeiras at Caninde stadium. The 2008 Sao Paulo state champion, Palmeiras has the tournament's best defense with only six goals conceded. It is still playing without Chile midfielder Jorge Valdivia because of injury.
In the Rio Cup, the second stage of the Rio de Janeiro state tournament, Flamengo drew 3-3 with Madureira at Engenhao stadium thanks to an 83rd-minute goal by playmaker Thiago Neves. Flamengo, which fielded Ronaldinho from the start, had to come from behind after trailing 3-1 in the second half.
Flamengo has already qualified for the state tournament's final because it won the Guanabara Cup, the competition's first stage.
Fluminense and Vasco drew 0-0 at the Engenhao. On Saturday, visiting Botafogo was held by Boavista to a 0-0 draw to mark the debut of coach Caio Jr., who replaced former South Africa manager Joel Santana. Santana resigned saying he was unhappy with the constant complaints from fans.
