Mosha ang'aka kujadiliwa Yanga

*Ataka wanachama kuheshimu uamuzi wake

Waziri Nchimbi avitaka vyama vijenge uaminifu

na Samia Mussa

amka2.gif

Simba SC watua Dar kuifuata Mazembe

Chelsea to face Manchester United in Champions League quarter-finals

• Pair to meet in Europe for first time since 2008 final
• Tottenham paired with José Mourinho's Real Madrid

Tottenham will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Photograph: Tony O'Brien/Action Images Chelsea will face Manchester United in an all-English Champions League quarter-final.
The pair were pitted against each other during today's draw in Nyon. It will be the first time they have met in Europe since the 2008 final in Moscow, which United won on penalties.
England's other representative, Tottenham, were rewarded for knocking out Milan in the last round with a fixture against one of the continent's other elite clubs – José Mourinho's Real Madrid.
The two other ties see the holders Internazionale face Schalke while the favourites Barcelona meet Shakhtar Donetsk. The winner of Chelsea and United's tie will face either Inter or Schalke in the semi-finals while Spurs, should they overcome Real, could then be paired with Barcelona in the last four.
Javier Hernández, whose two goals steered United past Marseille in the last-16 stage, admits Chelsea will provide Sir Alex Ferguson's men with a "tough" challenge in the quarter-finals, but it is not one he in scared of.
"We play in the same league and it is going to be tough," said the Mexico striker. "Stamford Bridge is a nice stadium and it makes it a little bit like a league game. But if there is an advantage that we are at home in the second game."
Meanwhile Carlo Ancelotti, the Chelsea manager, believes victory over United will allow his players to gain revenge for their painful defeat in Moscow three years ago. He said: "We have four games to reach the final in London. If Chelsea reached the final there, we'd have a good revenge for 2008."
The Italian was also pragmatic at the prospect of facing Sir Alex Ferguson's men in another crucial match this season. He added: "I'm not happy, I am not disappointed. I am realistic. They are a team we know very well and they know us very well.
"For English football, it's good – last season no English teams were in the semi-finals. This year, one team or two teams will be in the semi-finals."
It will be two teams should Spurs beat the odds and progress past Real. Their manager, Harry Redknapp, is certainly excited about the prospect of facing the nine-times European Cup winners.
"It's a fantastic draw. What a game to look forward to against one of the greatest clubs in world football," he said. "You have to look forward to games like this. These are the great days in your life and great days in Tottenham's history. We'll go there and give it a real go and you couldn't have a more exciting or tougher game.
"I've said all along that the two Spanish clubs were, for me, the favourites to win it. We've drawn Real Madrid, who are pushing Barcelona all the way for the championship with big players and a fantastic manager. In my opinion, he [Mourinho] is one of the all-time greats. He was amazing for English football when he came.
"But we've got a chance against anyone. We feel we can play against anyone and give them a game."
The first legs of the quarter-final ties will be played on 5-6 April with the return games taking place a week later.
    Quarter-final draw

    Real Madrid v Tottenham Hotspur
    Chelsea v Manchester United
    Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk
    Internazionale v Schalke
    Semi-final draw

    Real Madrid/Tottenham Hotspur v Barcelona/Shakhtar Donetsk
    Internazionale/Schalke v Chelsea/Manchester United

About as good a draw for Chelsea as they could have imagined - Utd on current weakened form and no Barca until the final. The only way they could mess this up is if they play Fernando Torres in any of these games. For even five minutes.

It could've been easier for United but they have deserved to win at Stamford Bridge in the last two games there and won't have to put up with Martin Atkinson this time.
Chelsea have improved of late but I still don't think they're anywhere near the force they were at the start of the season and assuming United's injury crisis doesn't get any worse and with the second being at OT, I fancy United to nick a very tight tie.

I reckon Shakhtar might be dark horses. Their home record is great and they beat Roma home and away in the last round. They have also won at the Nou Camp in the past, so won't be frightened going there.
And Madrid are beatable, no doubt about it.

Amazing draw for Spurs! With the second leg at WHL we should be able to give Real Madrid a good tie and there's a chance we could spring a surprise.
Quarter finals is more than I was hoping for at the start of this season anyway, so to play a club like Real Madrid in them is great. Inter Milan, AC Milan, Real Madrid. And, if we somehow manage to make it through, Barcelona. Couldn't have asked for more.

Buzzing about the draw. For Spurs, if we didn't get Schalke the best draw was just to get a great side and we definitely got that. Even if we don't go through it will be a great occasion.

Agreed. It appears to be non Utd fans who are talking about a treble. It will make it more satisfying for you when we fall on our arses. We can then hear about how arrogant we were to expect another treble.

I think Real Madrid is probably the best true we could have got. Real are a massive club but even under Mourinho are beatable.
As ever we need to Bale, Lennon, VDV, Modric and Gallas fit and on form. If we can bring our best attacking team it will be a good high scoring matches I think.
I for one am a happy Spud. I never thought a few years ago we would be playing Real in UCL QF so now I hope we just go for it and attack them as we did Inter. Pressure will be on Real having not won it for a while and spent big.

United's chances are pretty good as long as we have a fair referee. Especially with the second leg at home. You've got to stay optimistic I guess, but that is still a tough draw for both clubs.
Toughest possible group for Spurs, second-most toughest tie in the Round of 16 (amongst the English teams), and now toughest route to the final. Could they? Really?

      ClayReggazoni 18 March 2011 11:43AM

I wish I could "recommend" this 20 times... with a fair ref UTD have a great chance of going through, Chelsea have been very fortunate against us.
While Spurs have a tough draw, I am very happy for my Spud mates
they are thoroughly enjoying their CL experience, getting to most away games, so after a couple of trips to the San Siro, they now get to the Bernabeu... and so very deserved too! Whatever the outcome, COYS!

Could they? Really?
Laughed when Lineker said "Tottenham" instead of "Winner of second semi-final" during the final draw. 🙂

Spurs are obviously second favourite, but Real Madrid aren't that much better than either of the clubs from Milan. If Ronaldo's still not properly fit by then, who knows.

Spurs are obviously second favourite, but Real Madrid aren't that much better than either of the clubs from Milan. If Ronaldo's still not properly fit by then, who knows.
It'll definitely be the most entertaining tie of the quarter finals.

I don't agree that playing 2nd leg at home is an advantage. Potentially it gives the away side 30 mins of extra time to get away goals, and that means squeeky arse time for lord ferg

"The two other ties sees the holders Internazionale face Shakhtar Donetsk while the favourites Barcelona meet Schalke. "

      @dunf2562
Tottenham were doomed at 0-3 vs. Young Boys.
They were also doomed when the draw was made.
Ditto when they were 0-4 at Inter.
And, when they were drawn vs. AC Milan, the smart money was on the Italian giants.
Bring on Real, and let the football do the talking!

As a spurs fan, i do fancy our chances. Granted we'll no doubt go out in the semi's. But i think we could give Real Madrid a run for their money.

How about some sympathy for Martin Atkinson for a change ? It's going to be incredibly difficult for him to have to watch the action from the sidelines and not be able to influence the outcome.

the naysayers are writing Spurs off again. That's great-we thrive on proving them wrong. Second leg at WHL gives us a great chance. Then Shaktar in the semis and Chelsea in the final. That's done and dusted then!
How much are those Wembley tickets?

From an Arsenal fan's point of view, looking at it all from the outside...is just wrong.
It'll feel wrong cheering on a team managed by Mourinho.

Though European refs give out cards like confetti, better that for the Chelsea v Man Utd tie than an Englishman who gives a yellow for attempted shin-breaking tackles.

Chelsea just seem to have Utd's number at The Bridge... About time for a win eh?

Massive collective sigh of relief was reported emanating from Catalonia region after it became clear Barca would avoid Schalke until the final.

I hope Man Utd v Chelsea gets decided on penalties and a certain brave English defender slips and misses the crucial penalty.

i really hope you and the media will talk up Tottenham's chances. a little bit of typical English overconfidence (always before the game) would help us more than anything

      C) Jamie Redknapp is a bell end
Saddens me to say but so is Ray Wilkins.

They all are in that SKY studio. Dwight Yorke who played for numerous clubs referring to Man Utd as 'we' and wose stil Redknapp who played for Spurs for 5 mins also referring to Spurs as 'we'. Wilkins can also *** off

Hopefully some more Man U defenders will get injured
If any survive to be on the field till then. God knows what Drogba-Torres could do to an Evans-Oliver Gill partnership at the back. Carnage.
But Rafael should just make it by then, so hopefully our luck holds up a bit for once.

United were supposed to get Schalke away in the quarter final first leg, then Spurs at home in the semi second leg with Howard Webb as referee for Old Trafford, with a spanking by Barca in the final at Wembley.
      UEFA is corrupt
