ISINGIRO DISTRICT GETS FIRST CASE
On Monday, Isingiro district recorded its first community case of COVID-19 according to results that were released by ministry of Health.
Officials say the district's first case is a 19-year-old male who had travelled to Tanzania and sneaked into the country using the porous border entry points. He was later picked from Rubondo.
Isingiro resident district commissioner Herbert Muhangi says that the district gets many people from Tanzania trying to enter the country illegally to sell merchandise. At the same time, a number of Ugandans go to Tanzania to till gardens.
To date, the district has 69 people both Ugandan and Tanzanian nationals under quarantine. The 19-year-old was among the four new cases confirmed on Monday. The other contact and alert case was from Amuru while the other two cases were from cross border truckers who entered the country using the Kerwa and Mpondwe points of entry located in Yumbe and Kasese respectively.

During the covid-19 brief, the health CS announced that 189 new cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours bringing the totoal number of cases to 10294. He added that over the same period, the ministry had recorded 12 deaths and 65 recoveries.
The CS, while updating the nation, he asked Kenyans no to doubt presence of the disease in the country.
While answering the journalists' questions, he said covid-19 is real like other diseases like HIV/Aids and expressed his embarrassment on a section of Kenyans who were not giving the disease the seriousness it deserves.
"Now the information is this; there is COVID-19. Even a little kid in the streets of Niarobi knows that they can get it and you can get it. Who are those other people who we are told don't know there is covid-19? And how long do you think it will take them to accept there is this disease?"said Mutahi Kagwe.
He added," One thing I know is that if somebody is in denial, then he is in denial and there is nothing more I can do about it. One thing I know is that one of these fine days, that denial will dissappear."
He gave an example of other countries who were denying the disease's presence in their countries. He said while they were denying the reality, the truth is that people were dying and are still dying of the disease.
"Even countries have told us that they are in denial that there is covid-19. Some even went to the extend of declaring there is nothing like covid-19 but very big people died of the disease. If you go to the same places now, people will tell you there is COVID-19," said the CS.
His message, though it was to meant for kenyans, appeared to have been directed to citizens of other countries who were still publicly denying of the presence of the disease.
Tanzania being an example, president Magufuli had been criticised by western countries over his country's response to the disease.
As other countries closed churches and mosques to curb the spread of the disease, Magufuli asked the faithfuls to continue attending churches and other religious places and pray for the country.
