Mama Maria Nyerere endorse JK for 2nd Term?

On the second page of the Sunday Citizen (4 October 2009) there is a picture with the following caption: "Mama Maria Nyerere stresses a point when she addressed the press yesterday". In that picture Mama Nyerere is wearing a white T-shirt with a photograph of President Jakaya Kikwete.

I wonder why our Mama wa Taifa decided to wear it in a press conference just a few days after some critical remarks about the current government from some national stalwarts. According to the accompanying article, Mama Maria said that Tanzanians would rediscover unity of purpose if they re-invoke the spirit of the independent struggle.

Maybe that was a call to unite behind JK in 2010.

Mama Maria Nyerere amechagua lililo jema. Rais wetu JK ni kati ya marais 10 bora duniani. Ninamuombea kwa Mungu Muumba wa Mbingu na Nchi ampe afya njema ili aweze kugombea tena mwakani na aendelee kutuongoza hadi 2015 ndipo amuachie mwana CCM mwingine mwadilifu kama yeye.

Ni ngumu kujua anasimamia wapi isipokuwa nafikiri hakuna tabu akimsupport JK maana ndio demokrasia hiyo. Kuna anachoamini JK anajaribu kukifanya kurudisha mambo yawe sawa.

Mama Nyerere hajakosea hata kidogo. Mimi nadhani Rais ni Rais hata kama mtu binafsi unaweza usiridhike naye au humpendi. Labda awe Rais ambaye aliingia madarakani kwa njia zisizo halali. Wengi hatukumchagua JK 2005 lakini baada ya kuapishwa ni Rais wetu, kwa shida na raha, makosa na uadilifu. Kuvaa T-shirt yenye picha yake ni aina fulani ya uzalendo kuliko ushabiki tu.

Hata hivyo Ladslaus amekwenda mbali mno kusema Rais wetu ni 'kumi bora" hapa duniani. Kwa vigezo vipi? Au ni ule msemo wa kwamba mtoto ambaye atembelei nyumba za majirani na kula huko daima asema kwamba mama yake ni mpishi bora kuliko majirani wote!!

Hivi huyu mama Maria Nyerere amesoma mpaka darasa gani huyu?

Mimi naona anatetea ili Serikali izidi kumsitiri otherwise anaweza tukakumbana nae katika daladala huyu.

Yuko sahihi kwani kwa sasa huyu ndie rais wetu, sisi kama wananchi wa tz ni wajibu kuwa nyuma yake. Tunapaswa kukumbuka kuwa nafasi ya jk ni zaidi ya jk mwenyewe kama tunataka kuwa wakweli, ile ni taasisi ambayo msingi wake ulianzia 1961 na siyo 2005 wakuu. Ccm tunapaswa kujiheshimu, kuvumiliana na kuheshimu taasisi na zaidi rais wetu, yeye ana agenda za muda mfupi na muda mrefu, zile za muda mfupi zitakamilika 2010 na zile za muda mrefu kwake 2015, tumtakie kila la heri mhehimiwa rais kwa kila jambo alifanyalo. Amen
