In my opinion C may not be the best language for a beginner, and it's not widely used as a general purpose language which is what you want to do. Try starting with Java or Python
Ok but tayari nimeshaanza kusoma C na nakaribia kumalizia

Huwezi kumaliza C acha uwongo. Then C mostly applicable katika operating system ukitaka kutengeneza GUI hapo utakimbia its better jifunze Java maana kuna netbean itakusaidia interface kirahisi

As long as you understand the basics of programming the knowledge is transferable, you'll just have to learn different syntax for other languages and other language specific features.
I hope you meant umekaribia kumaliza C as in umekaribia kumaliza what you planned to learn and not that umemaliza C inside out.

And lastly Kang makes a good point for C#. It's a solid language and has nice UI frameworks in WPF and WinForms. The former is very adaptable for desktop and mobile applications

Really Bad idea.
Mkuu umetumia C kweli? Comparing with other languages C ni rahisi sana kwa beginner, java na higher level concepts zote zile nani ataelewa?

Can you compare
Code:
#include <stdio.h>

int main(){
    printf("Hello world!");
    return 0;
}
VS
Code:
package whatever

public class HelloWorld {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Hello, World");
    }
}
Yaani Java sio beginner friendly hata kidogo, concepts za public, static, class bado uje kwenye functions zake System.out.println yaani watoto lazima wakimbie programming.

Watu wanachoogopa C sijui ni nini? Wengi wanasema pointers sijui, there's really nothing special to it, In fact its a better language kwa beginner ajue vizuri how to access memory na kutumia resources efficiently, hizo abstractions zote zimefichwa kwenye higher level languages.

Python labda, japo dynamic typing is a mess ila angalau inaweza kuvumiliwa kwa kua na very easy syntax.

C# sikushauri kwa sababu .Net ni Microsoft only ingawa naona wanazidi kuifanya Opensource na kuna little intro kwenye *nix inaendelea ila bado. Last time nimetumia Mono (C# on-*nix ukipenda) ilikuwa bado haina kila kitu kilichopo kwenye MS C#.

My advice kwa Bongo at least ujue Lugha moja maarufu ya web (I suggest PHP), Moja ya Desktop (I suggest C++) na Moja ya Mobile (I suggest Java) na ukiweza jifunze functional/cocncurrent moja (I suggest Elixir). Ila uanze na moja na maoni yangu yapo hapo juu.

Samahani kwa kutopangilia, ni muda wa kupumzika...!

Baby steps. I agree with you kuwa C is a good language and it's okay to learn but it comes with a lot of overhead for beginners, and in reality a good majority of developers will never use C in their life.

Regardless of your opinion of Java it's the most used language, it's OOP which is a good thing for a beginner to learn, has a far bigger community support and learning materials, can be used to develop almost anything(It's not always the right tool for the job but it does work almost everywhere) etc

And lastly it all comes down to OPINION which is why my first line was in MY opinion. And to answer your question yes I have used C, and unless someone has a very good reason to learn or Use C I'd rather convince them to learn Golang as I view it as modern C.

You are mostly right about C# but .Net space has changed a lot the past few years. Microsoft has opened up some of their tools to *Nix OS, Mono has matured enough, and I think .Net CORE is going to push C# more in the nix and it's showing a lot of promise already(I'm biased here because I love .Net CORE haha)

I can hear that bias ;)
Anyway I was cautioning against a thought that C# is monolithic multiplatform like C/C++/Java et al. Many beginners tend to think that way. Plus a little bit of sleepness... duh!

Brilliant, wewe ndiye umeleza kisomi kabisa, hii inadhilisha una a firm handle kwenye masuala ya programming languages zinazo tumika kujenga System na Application Software - be blessed.
