The mortal remains of Tooro’s fallen King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV have arrived at Entebbe International Airport as the kingdom begins preparations to lay its former monarch to rest.
The aircraft carrying the remains arrives at Entebbe International Airport at 10:00am on Friday, September 4, 2026.
President Yoweri Museveni is at the airport to receive the remains, alongside the Queen Mother and government officials.
Uganda Police drapes the casket in the national colours and Tooro Kingdom colours before wheeling it through a guard of honour mounted at the airport.
President Museveni pays his final respects to the fallen king and lays a wreath before the casket is taken to a waiting helicopter.
The helicopter is scheduled to transport the remains, accompanied by family members and government officials, to Kyegegwa District, where the next phase of the funeral programme takes place.

King Oyo, who becomes the Omukama of Tooro at the age of three in 1995, dies in the United States on August 27, 2026, aged 34.
Last week, President Museveni declared three days of national mourning from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13, with the late Omukama scheduled to be laid to rest on Saturday, September 12.
