hi guys hope you are all well. i just started this thread about Kenya's acquisition of the world deadliest attack helicopters that was made in February. initial delivery was of 16 of these dreaded helicopters and rumor mill or grapevine has it that another 27 have been requested for by the Kenya air force to be delivered by spring of 2013. all the aircraft have been assembled locally(according to word on street) as is the case with helicopters acquired for use in the region. the local Kenyan helicopter assembler is the same one assembling for the Kenya police air wing helicopters. the aircraft will be used by the 50 air battalion based at embakasi according to intelligence news and other sources.
1)i have a few issues regarding especially the local assembly of this most sophisticated helicopters bearing in mind the recent crash of the police copter that Killed Hon. saitoti and Hon. Ojode R.I.P . how capable is this local assembler in terms of his skills, technology, equipment, skilled manpower and resources bearing in mind these are not civilian helicopter but battle sophisticated ones??
2)Also bearing in mind Kenya is the only country in Africa to acquire these state of the art weaponry and only the second in the southern hemisphere and the fourth in the world after Russia,India and Venezuela, will this make Kenya air superiority extend further from traditional east africa to other regions like southern africa, and is kenya willing to flex its military power to southern africa and north africa?
3) it is a fact that if kenya ca n be able to increase its aquistion and skills of this helicopter then no other country in africa has the capability to challenge it bearing i mind south africa top attack helicopter the Rooivalk is no match for the mil mi 28
