#COVID19 Kenya's coronavirus cases near the 9,000 mark as 447 test positive

Kenya has confirmed 447 more cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 8,975, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced.

CS Kagwe was speaking in Mombasa on Thursday during the daily coronavirus briefing.

The new cases are from 3,803 samples tested in Kenya in the last 24 hours and brings the tally of samples tested so far to 200,311.

All the new cases are Kenyans aged between 1 and 88-years and include 280 males and 167 females.

At the same time, four more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities so far to 173.

64 people have however recovered raising the number of recoveries to 2,657.
