Kenya toughens sea warfare team with more marine commandos

Ni vizuri sana kwa ajili ya usalama wa ndani.
Kwa nini mnawatumia SAS na Sayeret Matkar ambazo ni military units kutrain police. Its like kuwaita SWAT waje kuwafundisha kufyatua rockets wakati wao ni police na rockets sio speciality yao.
Hata Mimi imenishangaza mno..

i) US Delta Forces are not trained by british sas.
ii) Wearing a t-shirt from an ally during training is not illegal, american soldiers have been seen wearing t-shirts from the royal marines and vice versa.
iii) British military paratroopers here in Kenya have also been seen wearing KDF t-shirts and vice versa.
i) Nowhere I mentioned that they are trained, I said they were. Even the first man to train Delta Force copied and used tactics from SAS as he was stationed at their base. But, you will never observe a Delta Force wearing SAS insignia or uniform.

ii) and iii) Can you prove?

Because war has come into our borders where military are not allowed to officially operate only support. The police who have a mandate to protect citizens internally, are facing harder criminals than ever in history, must be able to fight asymmetrical wars within our borders, out gun and overpower terrorists and drug dealers. That is why the police need special trained units that can fight urban warfare like the military.

NB: Our police special units (Recce, special warfare force, Anti Terror unit, RDU) are also trained in counter insurgency, guerilla warfare, counter terrorism, Hostage rescue, sabotage and unconventional warfare ( The covert assistance of foreign resistance forces and subversion of local governments).

Of all the above police special units, special warfare force are most secretive and nobody knew they existed until the Dusit D2 attack, they have access to financing outside the normal police budget and weaponry not accessible to other police special units.

Others:
We also have other paramilitary fighting units that are not in the police or the military. They are under government corporations called Kenya Wildlife service rangers and Kenya Forest services rangers . They are trained by British military paratroopers based in Nanyuki and US army 75th Ranger Regiment to fight in jungles but they also hunt poachers. Their primary role is to protect wildlife and forests, but they are also a personnel reserve for the Kenya army division of KDF. They are more than 25,000 in number.

Lol dude you are all over the place, since when is a t-shirt official uniform, and do you see any navy seal insignia on that t-shirt?

Also delta force are already special forces professionals gathered from navy seals, ranger strike forces and the airforce i.e. Delta force does not recruit green candidates but picks from the top 25% of the already battle hardened american special forces.

Your second paragraph has nothing to do with our argument. Its out

Don't you see the words NAVY SEAL on that t-shirt? If you are looking for insignia, you mean that Kenyan troops can wear anything provided that it has no insignia. Next time they will wear US 82nd Airborne Division gear and you will defend them that they haven't insignia.

Bro wacha kelele nyingi.... didn't you see a SAS operative wearing a patch usually worn by seal team 3 during last year's dusit attack.
The guy you see on pic with a Navy seal T-shirt most likely got the T-shirt when being trained by US Navy seal under training of the Trainers program.

Members of the Marine Commandos during a training by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) as part of reinforcement for the Kenya Navy Special Forces.

What you need to know:
  • The commandos undertook a first-of-its-kind course which covered operational aspects including amphibious operations, land warfare, close quarter combat as well as combat search and rescue.
  • They will help create a serene environment in the blue economy, which is part of the national government’s big four agenda.
  • The Navy and the Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS) have increased patrols in the Indian Ocean to tame crimes including illegal fishing, drug trafficking and sea pollution.
The Kenya Navy Special Operations Squadron has received a major boost to its sea and land warfare operations after more marine commandos joined the team last week.

The new members graduated recently at a ceremony held at the Kenya Navy Fleet Mkunguni, Mtongwe Navy Base in Mombasa County.
The commandos undertook training which covered operational aspects including amphibious operations, land warfare, close quarter combat as well as combat search and rescue.

“To combat terrorism, the trainees are equipped with necessary skills and capabilities...to enhance a secure and safe environment,” said the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in a statement.

The commandos are also expected to help create a stable environment in the blue economy, which is part of the national government’s Big Four agenda.

Their training was run by the Kenya Naval Training College. The commander, Major-General Jimson Mutai, said the “commandos’ vessel had set sail for a long voyage destined for greater heights” and that “there is no docking or looking back”.

“The storms might be dense and the tides may rise but the unforgiving natural calamities will not distract our vision in realisation of the set goals.”

Maritime sovereignty
The Kenya Navy announced in June that the elite force was undergoing training to tackle global warfare at sea.

“The Marine Commandos will inject real time asymmetric tactics and operations to tackle enemy actions. They will augment the existing Kenya Navy Special Forces and continue protecting Kenya's maritime domain from external aggression,” KDF said in an earlier statement.

The Navy and the Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS) have also increased patrols along the the Indian Ocean coast to tame illicit trade. The targets include illegal fishing, drug trafficking and sea pollution.

President Uhuru Kenyatta established KCGS with the core mandate of securing Kenya’s territorial waters, safeguarding the ports and preventing dumping of harmful waste in the sea.

The service also ensures vessels, seafarers and all sea users have licences for their operations, whether work, leisure or business.
It also offers search and rescue services and prevents illegal commercial activities like fishing, drug and human trafficking.
