The pass-out parade for the 2025/2026 Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruits was scheduled to take place this June at the Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret. That would mark the completion of their six-month foundational basic military training which commenced end of November 2025.
However the recruits were added an additional 2 months training period and are now set to graduate in August almost the same time as the National police service recruits.
This is WHY??
The extension of KDF recruits' basic military training by an additional two months was a collective decision reached by senior commanders after determining that the recruits had not yet attained the required standards of preparedness to qualify for passing out and graduation. The decision was guided by military training assessments and the need to ensure every recruit met the expected operational and professional benchmarks before completion of training.
