..I think USD 200 per van is too low... USD 200 per tourist would be more like it?

livefire,
..if EAC was supposed to be border less, mbona Kenya na Uganda mlikuwa mnagombea kisiwa cha Migingo?!!
..Ethiopians r better of using the port in Eritrea and Djibout.
..Wakenya mtakuwa mnajidanganya kutegemea kwamba in the long run Ethiopia watatumia bandari ya Lamu as their first option.

its worth noting that Kenya exercised extreem restraint with Uganda, not as a show of cowardice but the economic gains far outweighed use of military force which was at its disposal. Btw the AP unit were preped for a sting operation but the army again suppressed them. (Just a btw).
EAC was intended to create a borderless economic zone, ok? Not to infringe on territorial integrity of member states thats why treaties were signed till we be a federation. This dream if realized will create the largest market in Central Africa bigger than SADC and will benefit the region immensely. By signing the treaty you scrapped border levies hence backtracking is a distaste to the entire region.
Ethiopia for obvious reasons will always fight eritreans, they seceded and with that they will ever beat each other to senses every so often plus the ports in Eritrea cant hold deep berths too. By 2030, the volumes of cargo feeding Central Africa via Lamu, Mombasa, Dar and Tanga will be unimaginable. This sibling rivalry will make little sense then but now every economy has to do what is prudent to stay afloat.

Livefire,
..so why did Kenya and Uganda fail to create the "borderless economic zone" in Migingo?
..u only invoke the idea of free movement and access to the land when dealing with Tanzania. WHY??
..I agree with u that every economy, Tanzania included, should do what is prudent to survive. In that sense if Kenyans continue with the media campaign that mount Kilimanjaro in their country, then Tanzania has to make sure there is a border levy for any individual entering frm Kenya.
..it makes more economic sense for Ethiopia to use the ports in Eritrea and Djibout, because of their proximity to that country. The same way with Uganda, I dont think it is economic prudent for them to try to use Tanga or Dsm ports.
Mzalendo452,
..wewe usifikiri wa-Tanzania ni misukule[zombies] kwamba kila ujinga unaotoka Kenya basi wakubaliane nao.
..Kenya occupies 6% of lake Victoria, Uganda has 45%, and Tanzania has the remaining 49%. sasa siku zote Wakenya mnalilia kwamba Lake Victoria iwe borderless.
..Migingo is an island in the Lake Victoria na inahusiana moja kwa moja na ujanja-ujanja wa wa-Kenya kutia mikono kwenye rasilimali za majirani zake.
Hao jamaa huingia na passport Migingo na hulipa customs/tax for every fish they fetch within Migingo! Museveni hana masihara on that...:lock1:
...Is that how you fool fellow Kenyans?. Who said that we'll be that much a bunch of fools, to let some revenue slips to Kenya's economy, for the "sake" of a Treaty with a number of flaws.EAC was intended to create a borderless economic zone, ok? ...What about ports in Djibouti?. Don't you think, Ethiopia is just trying to be more strategic, and having more ports at its disposal, for obvious reasons?Ethiopia for obvious reasons will always fight eritreans, they seceded and with that they will ever beat each other to senses every so often plus the ports in Eritrea cant hold deep berths too. this is an expensive joke, where does a fisherman obtain a passport to fish in his own backyard? Btw, Kenya dispatched a chief to the island last week. Stop spoilling for an arguement.
see for urself here KDF sneaking their noses but couldn't land their feet in the Migingo Island...

...Does anything that is happening to the EU ring a bell? ...What about ports in Djibouti?. Don't you think, Ethiopia is just trying to be more strategic, and having more ports at its disposal, for obvious reasons?
...Believe me, by that time, those volumes -from the mentioned area- will be coming in and going out through Dar and Tanga.
