Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda has expressed government commitment of having a new Constitution before the next General Election.
Tabling the budget for the Prime Ministers office, Premier Pinda said preparations for the New Constitution Review Bill were going on, urging the public to judiciously utilise the opportunity to air their views.
However he warned politicians against hijacking the project, including misleading the public to fulfill their political ambitions.

At least the government has come out openly, so it means we are not reviewing the constitution, but we are enecting a new constitution.
If that is the commitment, how do we move ( legally) from the present constitution to the new constitution? The present constitution is silent about how a new constitution can be amended it does not mention anything about repealing and replacing it.
