China has continued to shake the world with their back to back technological breakthroughs. Before now, it used to be the United States and Japan that occupy the top position in great inventions.
The case, however, became different for over two decades now as China has proved to be the present and future of technology. We are still digesting the superbus wonders, they have come with the artificial moon or the mini-moon. It's the futuristic solution to the cost involved in providing street lighting.
An organization known as the Tian Fu New Area Science Society said they have concluded plans to launch their new technology known as the artificial moon. The technology also known as the "illumination satellite" according to their report is designed to move over the city of Chengdu
The artificial moon just like the natural moon would tap its light from the sun, through its reflective ability. Its brightness is expected to be 8 times stronger than the natural moon. The illumination satellite, unlike the natural moon, will not be seasonal, but it is expected to shine side by side with the natural moon when it shows up.
The society said they also intend launching more two of that technology in 2022, therefore confirming the already circulating information.
The moon according to the head of the organization, Wu Chunfeng, will be suspended 500 Kilometres above the city where it will orbit and the reflective coating will be placed on it attract reflection from the sun. The head of the society also said that the advantage the mini-moon has over the natural one is that it is mobile and subject to human control. He said the moon would save China over $200 million annually as a cost of providing lighting in the cities.
We further said that when the other two mini-moons are launched, each of them will take turns in providing light, depending on the time of the day and the position of the sun. The three of them are expected to light up over 6000 Square kilometres, when fully operational.
The organization, however, did not consider the gains and strength of the project, they also consider the weaknesses. They considered the argument from some quarters of the society that the project will affect the pattern of sleep of humans and animals, negatively, but in reaction to that, Wu dismissed the claim stating that such effect will be minimal.
They have, however, concluded plans to test the project in a desert where it will not disturb the residents of the city, after which the opposing claim will either be confirmed or rejected. Also in his explanation, he stated that when the mini-moon is finally in operation, the residents will see something like stars in the sky, not like the perceived large moon.
It is, however, worthy to note that, the project of this nature was first attempted by Russia years back but abandoned the idea when one of their satellites failed. This confirms the superiority of China in the technological space of the world.
What did you deduce of this planned launch? Do you think it is a viable course? Is China not crossing the red line in challenging the creator of the world.
