Huawei: US charges Chinese telecoms giant with stealing trade secrets

Huawei: US charges Chinese telecoms giant with stealing trade secrets

hao us ni wenye chuki zilizopitiliza wanataka kila zuri wawe wao Kama vipi xi pin piga tu hao

It was an expensive toy the country couldn't afford".

NB: To make the record straight:

We're very awkward indeed to turn the white people as our poor scapegoats for our failures. Almost 60 years of independence, we still don't even know our priorities. Very Pathetic Indeed.

Politics has killed us. I recall in 80s, when Salim Ahmed Salim was the prime minister, there was a discussion to come up with TV. The communist hardliners opposed the idea because they thought TV broadcasting was a luxury endeavor and would only benefit the few elite. So I agree with you that we shouldn't blame white folks when we didn't make the effort to acquire the technology. What's worse, radio broadcast which was preferred by our leaders didn't penetrate very well.

China wanatumia gharama ndogo kwenye researches, badala yake wanatumia nguvu kubwa kuiba trade sercets kutoka makampuni makubwa, hapo ni lazima products zao zinakuwa na bei ndogo. This is unfair trade practices,na nchi yoyote inayojielewa haiwezi kufumbia macho huu upuuzi.

Apple stole the graphic design that were used in Xerox. Microsoft copied the graphics of its Windows Operating systems from Xerox and Apple. Apple, Xerox and Microsoft are American companies and the question is if stealing make things cheaper, why Apple and Microsoft products aren't sold at lower prices?

The cheap labour in China is gradually decreasing due to the rise in middle income families and clearly replaced by Philipiness and India.

Chinese have always been copycats and that's what took them to where they are. And they know it !

They have neither been faithful nor abiding to the WTO regulations.

e.g

YouTube - YouKu
PayPal - AliPay
Twitter - Weibo
Facebook - Tencent
Starbucks - Luckin Coffee
Apple - Xiaomi

If copycat is that easier as suggest, why can't African countries do exactly the same. Here's the thing. In business law they say that if you invent something you can file for the patent to protect you intellectual property for 20 years. If somebody tries to use your invention, they will have to pay you.

After 20 years, your protection will expire and everybody can use your technology without any issue. The question now is why Tanzanians, or for that matter Africans, copy and use technologies that aren't under copy protections? We here bashing Chinese; however, under this beautiful sun, there many technologies that could be copied for free and we don't want to take advantage of them.

Chinese have a very influential market plus cheap labour that they use to lure US Companies into their land, that are then forced to partner with Chinese ( as per Beijing laws ) to operate in China.

Then once they comply, that's by partnering with Chinese what follows is a technology transfer.

There's a truth to what you have said. However, majority of contributors in this thread are ignoring one important ingredient. Chinese have a robust system of education at primary and secondary levels. So when they company invest in China, it doesn't only get cheap labor, but also skilled people with work ethics.

If cheap labor was the only factor, in Tanzania we have that in abundance. In addition, Chinese has a growing middle class and up class. These two classes present the spending power of the country. For example, currently, there are 338 billionaires in China. Only the USA surpasses this number. So when we speak about China, we shouldn't look at the country in terms of cheap labor only. We should add the buying power of Chinese into the mix. If Mercedes Benz build a plant in China, the goal isn't to produce cheap cars to sell somewhere else. The main goal is to target the Chinese domestic market.

With regard to technology transfer, there's nothing new under our beautiful sun. Currently, China is at par with many countries in many areas. They have a very good and competitive system of education and the question why they shouldn't compete? If you go to America, Asians form a good number of graduate students who study engineering and science. The question is where these students go after graduation? Do you think they disappear in a vacuum?

Aiseee we kiboko, hata tv imeanzia america!!!😀😀😀

That apart, Chinese are renowned for abusing Intellectual Property Rights a key element at the centre of their now famous Trade War with the US.

Needles to say, the Chinese are also notorious for the theft of technology from the west and notably the US. There is a regulation in China that requires any foreign investor to China to share technology with the local investors something that further fans the flame of trade war fire between both countries.

Despite the countries like Tanzania having the cheap labour, another handicap to them is that the potential manpower here is not skilled and the other economic factors like the ease of doing business which the country scores, comparatively, poorly (Tanzania is ranked on poor 144 out of 190 countries according to the latest World Bank annual ratings), takes it out of the business investment equation.

It is indisputable that the cheap cost of labour in China has have an impact on making the Chinese exports comparatively cheaper compared to exports from rival countries although this trend has now begun to subside as the Chinese labour costs start to rise amid the sagging economic growth.

The center theme in the trade war between the US and China is trade surpluses. What China exports to the US is more that what it imports from there. And the thing is a lot of products that Chinese export to the US don't fall into the intellectual property categories. What I mean here is the Chinese can maintain its trade surplus while adhering to intellectual property rights of foreign companies. Take for example domestic items we used daily at home. Most of these items have no intellectual property protections because they were patented more than 20 years ago or are just obvious.

Additionally, even if Chinese stop bad intellectual property practice, companies will disclose their IP involuntarily anyway. Take for example IPhone. Apple doesn't manufacture individual components used in iPhone. If it try to do that, it will take years to finish the product and its price will be prohibitive. So Apple depends on global supply chain. In essence, Apple will ask suppliers or vendors who are located in Taiwan, China, Korean, Hong Kong to make and supply the components for them. In other words if you want your products to reach the market in timely manner and make profits, you have to disclose your products. For example, if you open Apple and Samsung phones, you will find out that they are using the same suppliers. Dell, HP, Lenovo are using the suppliers. Ford, Toyota, Nissan are using the same suppliers.

15 years ago, ASUS used to supply computer components to Dell, IBM, HP, Toshiba, Sony etc etc. Today they still supply computer components, but they also make their own computers and tablets. In essence, over a long period of time, the supplier become a maker.

The point I am trying to say is companies don't win in Intellectual Property war. If Chinese can't steal your Intellectual Property rights, an American company will do that. Competition in trade is a constant battle and the only way you can survive as a company is to stay ahead in innovation.

Apple and Google used to be partners. Today they are competitors because Apple decides to make its own navigation system and Google decided to make Android OS which powers Samsung and other Android Phones, the rival of Apple. The models for navigation systems and Android OS or other operating systems were developed in University labs many years ago and if you want commercialize them, you have a small window to maintain your competitive edge.

I am not trying to defend China. But I think the Chinese have made very good investment in education and their investment is paying off bigly. You can't still intellectual property rights if you dumb.

Mchina hana jipya.

Kila anachotengeneza ni copy.

Tell me any unique creative invention by Chinese ?

Naomba usome vizuri nilichoandika tokea mwanzo mkuu.

You are right

Naona umevamia thread.

Hapa ni Sino vs US.

Ukitaka Mkaruka vs US fungua uzi wake.
Wewe umesema mchina hana jipya huenda wewe una jipya sasa kama huna jipya ya nini kubeza wenzio ambao wanaweza mpaka ku copy technology na kutengeneza vitu mkuu hebu changamkia mambo dunia ya leo ni umafia tu unapopata gape fanya kweli
