Five Reasons Kenya Funds Evil Scenes in Ngorongoro Crater

By James Mulaitu, Kenya
June 13, 2022

Sponsored media and special tasks in my country (Kenya) are now busy misleading the world through false videos, pictures, and creating artificial scenes showing the Maasai in Ngorongoro crater badly beaten, injured, admitted, and treated in Kenyan hospitals.

All of these scenes are created and disseminated on one fabricated theme: "the government is forcing the Maasai out of their native villages to allow the UAE and some western countries to use the land for their hunting safaris."

As a Kenyan and frequent tourist in the crater as well as the neighbor, I am convinced that Kenya is sponsoring these fabricated scenarios to turnish Tanzania’s image internationally and dwarf all economic strategies engineered by President Samia Suluhu’s government that may soon outsmart the Kenyan economy.

Tanzania-Kenya Oil Pipeline, Kenya is not happy with the decision of Uganda to route its oil exports through Tanzania after a report found the country was a cheaper and more secure option than in the already signed deal that has angered Kenya, Uganda will use Tanga, a seaport city about 200km north of Dar es Salaam, to export its crude oil rather than Lamu in Kenya. The project is envisaged to create 15,000 jobs in Uganda and Tanzania.

Uganda’s decision not to partner Kenya is a major blow to the region’s biggest economy and could have strained underground relations in the bloc as well as Tanzania. Kenya has recoverable oil reserves of up to 750 million barrels, dwarfed by Uganda’s recoverable reserves of 1.8 billion to 2.2 billion barrels (pdf).

The Royal Tour, The government of Kenya is not happy with the "Royal Tour" documentary film, officiated by President Samia in the US and spread to all parts of the world with the aim of promoting and marketing Tanzania’s tourism in the world.

Kenya is in great panic that the film, which has been well received around the globe, will dwarf its tourism sector. That is why it is fighting hard to damage the Ngorongoro crater, which is one of the few tourist attractions in the world with humans living wild animals.

In the period from January to April 2022, 367,632 tourists visited Tanzania. This is an increase of 92,535 tourists, equivalent to +33.6% compared to the 275,097 tourists who entered the country during the similar period in 2021.

The number of tourists arriving in 2022 is expected to increase more than the number of tourists recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic due to the government’s efforts to promote tourist attractions such as national parks, beaches, Mount Kilimanjaro, and game reserves.

Mount Kilimanjaro, It is now clear that Kenya is not happy with Mt. Kilimanjaro being found in Tanzania. There is a big campaign in Kenya via social media and other outlets telling the tourism world using the hashtag # we are happy to offer a 13-day expedition that will not take you to the summit of Kilimanjaro, but will first take you to the summit of Mount Kenya, 5,199m. And, as a result of that first climb, you will get all of the acclimatization you need for the second one.

Dar es Salaam Port, The heat from Kenya’s campaigns ahead of the August 9 General Election is affecting the flow of goods on the Northern Corridor, with Tanzania benefiting from the windfall as more cargo destined for the Great Lakes region is diverted to the Dar es Salaam port.

With memories of the 2007/08 post-election violence that disrupted transport on the corridor still fresh and a $63 million compensation award ordered by a Nairobi court still pending many importers, especially Ugandans and Rwandans, are opting for the Central Corridor.

Due to this cargo flight, transit volumes through the Dar es Salaam port to the Central Corridor have recently recorded significant growth as Mombasa registers plateaued or declining volumes of goods on the northern route. This has badly angered Kenya.

According to the latest Mombasa Port Corridor Community Charter report, transit volumes through the Dar es Salaam port grew by 21 percent in 2021, while those through the port of Mombasa declined by 6.2 percent in the same period. This badly angers Kenya.

Serengeti wins as Africa's leading national park, Kenya is not happy with the declaration of Tanzania's Serengeti as the 2021 Africa's leading national park, the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) by the World Travel Awards (WTA). It should be noted that Serengeti has won this award for the consequtively three tears (2019-2021) and no any Kenyan park has managed to tread.

This increases Kenya’s anger. That is why it is a big campaign to damage Tanzania’s tourism industry using its own created and fabricated scenes in Ngorongoro.

Balderdash. I don't believe that this Malaitu fella even exists. Whoever did it, it's a deliberate disinformation campain designed to quell disquiet at home.

Ky & Tz have always been competitors in tourism & in other areas, have coexisted and continued to coexist for ages & Ky has amassed more awards in tourism than Tz todate. Why would this so called enmity/competition, ostensibly brought about through the Royal Tour, come with blood letting & the death of a law enforcement officer now!

The Royal Tour's not even a year old and every number in the tourism statistics is now attributed to the star character of the film - for political reasons I should say.

Tz would do well if it did an in depth re-evaluation of its commercial/trade policies before lumping its failures on neighbours - and this call is not new. People have raised their concerns about this before.

All we a asking is, whatever decisions they make, they should make sure bloody scenes don't resurface, or is this too much to ask?
