Ismael Bennacer's future at Olympique Marseille remains in doubt. The French club has not yet decided whether to activate the buy option (€12 million + €3 million bonds) for the midfielder as he has a high salary and have other priorities. [Nico Schira, Luca Bendoni]

📰 @Gazzetta_it: Theo Hernández, Adli, Colombo, Vásquez, Bennacer, Okafor, and Pobega are the players currently expected to leave AC Milan.

According to @Blickch within the next 48 hours, Milan may complete the deal for Xhaka from Bayern Leverkusen for a value of 12 to 15 million euros ⚫️🔴

Bartesaghi grew up in Milan, he is liked by those who make the decisions, he can play in multiple positions. However, he is at the right age to grow and has admirers outside Milan too. A loan would make sense, maybe in Serie A, maybe in an operation that involves other players

Bondo will certainly start his training camp with Milan and Allegri will evaluate him in July. Confirmation is the most likely solution: another year in the squad, initially as an alternative and then who knows. A loan departure is unlikely, but not 100% impossible

A close Milan source says Milan has made three new signings ,what is missing is just the official announcements which could be made in the early days of July.

Samuele Ricci just needs to complete his medical tests and sign his contract, then he will officially become AC Milan’s first signing of the summer. In many ways, it’s the perfect deal for the Rossoneri.

Ricci has been on Milan’s radar for a very long time, ever since he played at Empoli, and rumours in the last few months seemed to suggest that it was only a matter of time. Sure enough, Fabrizio Romano tweeted the ‘Here we go’ on Saturday afternoon…

A fantastic deal on all fronts
After months of negotiating, albeit with a slight interruption when Max Allegri and Igli Tare were appointed, Milan and Torino have reached an agreement at €25m including bonuses. To be precise, we are talking about €23m as the fixed part and €2m in bonuses.

As for the salary, Ricci is expected to sign a five-year contract worth around €2.5m plus bonuses, which is very reasonable even without the Growth Decree. In terms of the financials, as such, you have to say that it’s a signing completely within Milan’s parameters.

There are more positives to this signing, though. In the 2024-25 season, it was painfully clear that Milan lacked a proper defensive midfielder. Youssouf Fofana did an okay job at times, but his ball-carrying abilities and interceptions were more key, as opposed to his positioning in defence.

Subsequently, the Milan centre-backs were exposed far too many times. Ricci, on the other hand, has made a name for himself in the No.6 role at Torino, working tirelessly in both phases. It’s a position that teams sometimes struggle to reinforce, especially at the aforementioned figures.

In addition to the price tag and position, you simply cannot look past the fact that he’s 23 years old and Italian. The lack of Italians has been a real problem for Milan in recent years, not just for the identity but also for the squad lists. The latter is something that shouldn’t be downplayed.

We usually see inflated price tags for Italian players precisely for that reason, so Milan getting Ricci for just €25m is fantastic on all fronts. Even the fans who perhaps aren’t convinced by his characteristics will surely agree with that.

No resistance from Torino and Cairo
Also relating to the price tag, it was very surprising to see how Torino and president Urbano Cairo approached the negotiations. Most of you might know it already, scarred from Milan’s negotiations over Andrea Belotti in 2017, but the 68-year-old is infamously tough to break down.

In the end, as was reported by Pietro Mazzara on Saturday, it was Torino that put pressure on Milan to complete the signing. You have to assume that Il Toro need the money to kickstart their own mercato, but there are likely other factors at play too.

First of all, Matteo Moretto stated on his YouTube channel that the deal has been more or less certain since January/February. Even Ricci’s renewal with the club was done in view of the sale, with Milan and Torino keeping talks alive throughout.

decisive role as the No.6 sorted cannot be overstated, as Lex Fofana taught us last summer.

Milanello and Allegri
It will certainly take some pressure off Tare’s shoulders, or at the very least it will free up time for other negotiations. The latter is perhaps the most important thing as, by all accounts, Tare isn’t one to get easily influenced by the media or fan criticism.

Aside from Modric, it will be very interesting to see who will be the next signing after Ricci. Negotiations for Ardon Jashari remain ongoing but Milan are also looking for a striker, while the left-back position is not vacant as a result of Theo Hernandez’s departure.

In short, there is still a lot of work to be done and we shouldn’t celebrate too early. But after years of signings that have been somewhat questionable, even if there have been some good ones too, we are allowed to enjoy it at least for a bit.

One of AC Milan’s priorities is to add a striker to the squad this summer and the ‘forbidden dream’, Viktor Gyokeres, has ended up on their wish list.

Having parted ways with Tammy Abraham, Luka Jovic and soon also Francesco Camarda (on loan for the season), Milan need to add a striker who can play alongside or alternate with Santiago Gimenez. As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), they have a big name on their list.

Gyokeres is the ‘forbidden dream’
Why the signing of Gyokeres would be so difficult is easy to understand. After all, we are talking about a player who found the back of the net 54 times (!) in 2024-25. Milan know that it’s an impossible operation unless several factors align, such as the big European clubs backing out.

The ideal scenario would be if Gyokeres is still in Lisbon at the beginning of August, since Sporting promised the player a departure for around €60-65m. An exceptional effort would still be needed from Milan, especially by RedBird’s standards, but it’s not fully ruled out yet.

The salary wouldn’t be an issue as Milan could offer around €5-6m per year, while he currently earns less than €1.5m per year. Having said all of this, can Gyokeres really remain on the market for weeks? The logical answer is no, but none of the big European clubs are in advanced talks as of now.

Retegui remains a credible option
Of course, Gyokeres isn’t the only striker on Milan’s wish list for the attack. One of the alternatives, especially when you consider the characteristics and cost, is Mateo Retegui. He was the top goalscorer in Serie A last season and would definitely improve the quality of the Rossoneri’s attack.

Atalanta signed him for around €23m last year and now, as has been told through the grapevine, the price tag is set at €50m. It’s a hefty price tag, no doubt about it, but it’s also negotiable. That’s why the former Genoa man cannot be ruled out in the pursuit.

Ardon Jashari has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list and according to a report, Igli Tare has tabled an improved offer for the 22-year-old.

As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan are in a hurry to get back to European football, following what was a very disappointing season. The goal is to win the Scudetto and in order to achieve it, a budget of €100m has been granted by the club ownership.

A significant improvement will be needed, but Napoli showed that it’s possible with their journey from 10th to first last season. Among the reinforcements on the cards, Milan have set their sights on Luka Modric, Granit Xhaka and Ashari for the midfield.

Improved offer tabled for Jashari
As a result of Milan expressing their interest in the player, Jashari has asked Club Brugge to help make it possible for him to join the Rossoneri. Igli Tare had already presented a first offer of €27m plus bonuses, but as that was rejected by the Belgian side, it was raised to €30m plus bonuses yesterday.

It remains to be seen if this will be enough to get the yes immediately, but the feeling is that the Belgian side eventually will buckle under the pressure. For now, they are asking for a fixed amount of €35m plus bonuses, so there is distance between the parties, but it can be sorted.

Max Allegri is hoping that he will have Jashari earlier than Stefano Pioli got Charles De Ketelaere (at the start of August). The fact that Jashari isn’t expected to be a goalscorer does help take some pressure off his shoulders, though, but time remains of the essence.

Talent and experience combined
At the age of 22, it’s clear that Jashari will benefit from having the likes of Modric and possibly even his compatriot Xhaka next to him. Milan consider him a talent that can develop further, hence why they are willing to authorise such a significant investment.

He doesn’t have the instinct for goals as Reijnders had last season, but he certainly benefits from more ‘competitive nastiness’, as the newspaper puts it. In short, he’s not afraid to get stuck in and Milan have missed a player like him in the midfield.

Speaking of Xhaka, he has also made it clear that he wants to join Milan this summer. He has already accepted the contract, but Bayer Leverkusen are asking for more than the €10m offered by the Rossoneri. He remains in the running, but Javi Guerra is an alternative (maybe for Jashari as well).
