Prince William to miss seeing Kate Middleton on Christmas Day as he volunteers for RAF duty
Prince William will miss out on seeing his fiancée Kate Middleton on Christmas Day because he has volunteered to be on duty at his RAF search and rescue base, St Jamess Palace has confirmed.

The Prince will also miss out on the Royal familys traditional Christmas get-together at Sandringham.
He will spend both Christmas Day and Boxing Day on call at RAF Valley in Anglesey, raising the possibility that he might not make it to the Queens Norfolk home at all during the festive break if there is further bad weather.
Miss Middleton will spend Christmas Day with her family in Berkshire.
Prince William proposed to Miss Middleton while they were on holiday in Kenya in October.
After the royal wedding on April 29 next year, Miss Middleton will move in with her husband in Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the RAF
In October Prince William undertook his first air-sea rescue mission in an offshore operation off Cumbria to help a stricken oil-rig worker.
He was co-pilot of a four-man crew aboard an RAF Sea King helicopter that was scrambled to an offshore oil rig in Morecambe Bay.
The crew was called to reports of a man who had suffered a heart attack on an accommodation rig next to a gas production platform.
The Prince and Miss Middleton met at St Andrews University in 2001 while they were studying history of art.
Miss Middleton was credited with persuading the Prince to continue his studies when he considered quitting as he struggled to adjust to university life during his first year.
They moved into a shared house with two other friends in 2002 and reportedly became a couple around Christmas 2003.
The couple briefly split up in April 2007, reportedly because of the strain caused by William's military career, but they were secretly back together within weeks.
Miss Middleton's millionaire parents Michael and Carole, who is a former air hostess, run a mail-order business called Party Pieces which sells toys and party paraphernalia.
She was privately educated at the £15,000-a-year Marlborough College, where she was a keen netball and hockey player, and has two younger siblings, Pippa and James.
