High Speed Chase Ends in US Capitol Shooting

U.S Capitol Police say shots have been fired at 2nd street and Constitution AVE just 2km from white house.
Pres Obama has been briefed on reports of gunfire on capitol hill.
Incident happened as a car tried to RAM a white house gate.

Shots have been fired near the US Capitol
in Washington DC after a high-speed police chase.
Chief Kim Dine of the Capitol Police told reporters it was an "isolated incident", not an
act of terrorism.

A police officer was injured in a crash, he said, and a suspect is in custody. President Obama
was briefed on the incident. The shooting happened two weeks after 12
people were killed and three injured in a shooting at nearby Navy Yard.

An eyewitness told the BBC he heard 10-12 shots following a car chase near the Capitol.
The action began at the White House, where a car reportedly struck a security bollard, which
initiated a police chase to the US Capitol.

Some senators were reportedly outside when they heard shots fired and saw police pull over
a car in front of a Senate building after a high-speed chase.
"I heard a pop pop pop and we were told to get down," Senator Bob Casey told the New
York Times.

Chief Dine said it is believed a child was in the car. There are no details on the condition of
the suspect, identified as a woman in media reports.
