- The idea that having sex with a virgin female can cure a man of HIV/AIDS or other STDs is known as the virgin cleansing myth (also known as the virgin cure myth, virgin rape myth, or just virgin myth).
Origin and History:
While widely documented in modern contexts across parts of sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and elsewhere, historical roots of similar folk beliefs about purging diseases like syphilis and gonorrhea date back as far as 16th-century Europe
Medical Reality: Having sex with a virgin does not cure HIV or any STI. Instead, it exposes both individuals to the risk of contracting or spreading infections
Prevention: Combating the myth requires accurate public health education, expanding access to real HIV treatment and antiretroviral therapy (ART), and prosecuting sexual violence
Verdict: Virgin cleansing is a myth. There is no Scientific research and proof to back the claim. On the other hand scientific and medicine research and proof shows that having unprotected sex exposes both the participants to more sexually transmitted diseases.
