Mwalimu mmoja kutoka Minnesota, aliwaambia wanafunzi wake waandike majina ya wanafunzi wenzao ( classmate) na waache nafasi kati ya jina moja na jina jingine. Kisha akawaelekeza waandike vitu vizuri kumhusu mhusika mwenye hilo jina ( postitve things about a classmate).

Baada ya hapo akakusanya karatasi zote mwisho wa wiki akachambua vitu vyote vizuri kwa kila mwanafunzi kadri ambavyo wenzake waliaandika kuhusu yeye. Na kila mwanafunzi akamuandikia karatasi ya kwake yenye vitu vyake vizuri. Aliporudi darasani Jumatatu akawagawia kila mtu ya kwake.

Hawakuamini kama vitu vidogo walivowafanyia wenzao vingeweza kuwa na maana kubwa kiasi hicho. Pia hawakutarajia kama wenzao darasani waliwapenda na kuwajali ( power of words). Ujumbe ule ulimpa kila mwanafunzi hisia nzuri kuhusu yeye mwenyewe na wenzake pia.

Miaka mingi baadaye mmoja kati ya wale wanafunzi aitwaye Mark aliuawa akiwa Vietnam. Siku ya msiba Mwalimu pamoja na wanafunzi walihudhuria. Baada ya msiba wakati wa chakula baba yake Mark alimwita Mwalimu na kumwambia kuwa kuna kitu anataka kumuonesha. Alitoa wallet (pochi) ya Mark akafungua karatasi iliyokuwa imefungwa fungwa na karatasi nyingine, kisha akaitoa na kumpa Yule Mwalimu.

Mwalimu hakutarajia kuwa Mark aliitunza karatasi aliyomuandikia orodha ya vitu vizuri vilivyoandikwa na classmates wenzake kwa miaka yote hiyo. Lakini classmates waliohudhuria baadhi walikuwa na karatasi zao pale pale kwenye wallet zao na hand bag, wengine walisema wameitunza kwenye album na pia wanaisoma mara kwa mara.

Wazazi wake Mark walimshukuru Mwalimu kwa kuwa mtoto wao aliutunza ule ujumbe walisema “Thank you so much for doing that,” Mark’s mother told the teacher. “As you can see, our son treasured it.”

Nimeitafsiri simulizi hii kwa sababu mbili, kwanza ni kutambua mchango wa walimu wetu ambao walifanya kila jitahada kutuelekeza,kutulea na kutufundisha japo wakati mwingine tuliona wanazingua lakini faida ya kazi waliyofanya ni kubwa.

Pili nilikueleza ukweli kuwa watu hawatakumbuka kile ulichokifanya bali ni vile ulivowafanya wajihisi “ people will forget what you did to them but they will never forget how you made them fell” wakikumbuka ulichofanya wajihisi vizuri watakikumbuka ulichokifanya kwa ufasaha.

Simulizi hii nimeipata kutoka kwenye kitabu ninachokisoma sasa “ 5 Love languages of children by Dr Gary Chapman na Ross Campbell ” Ninajua utamaduni wa kusoma vitabu sio wetu ni mgeni, ila kama uko interested na vitabu jipe moyo, jilazimishe kusoma mpaka uwe unasoma naturally bila kuji force make it a habit.
