Government is nearing the final stages of making Busoga University fully operational after years of delays over legal, financial and administrative requirements.

State Minister for Education and Sports (Sports), Peter Ogwang, told Parliament that progress has been made in clearing the university’s liabilities, transferring its assets to Government and developing academic programmes.

The next major step is to constitute a governing council, which will have the authority to admit students and oversee the university’s operations.

Ogwang asked Parliament for more time to complete the process, saying Government is now close to delivering a fully functional institution.

“Allow me complete the entire process since I started it. We will officially celebrate when the entire process has been completed. I am aware it has taken some time, but now I’m at the tail end, for purposes of us having Busoga University fully functional.”
