Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) management and employees have introduced a strategic awareness programme in primary schools on environmental conservation.
The plan was launched at Bunge Primary School yesterday by ATCL managing director David Mattaka planting a tree in the premises. The plan will also involve tree planting activities in schools by showing the pupils the importance of conserving the environment.

Speaking at the launch, the ATCL chief said that the plan was sustainable and it would be implemented in various schools across the country. The ATCL management, teachers and pupils were involved in matters related to environmental conservation and challenges.

“This is a progressive project as part of ATCL corporate social responsibility. The company will support it fully and we hope as many schools as possible will join hands”, he said.He said that the company has many social plans but has decided to start with environmental conservation.

“We are all aware of the massive environmental degradation. We cannot sit back and do nothing. We have to do something. This is a continuing project and our goal is to reach different schools in the country with the intention of giving pupils adequate ability to understand the importance of preserving our environment in the society,” Mr Mattaka said.

On the other hand, the school’s HeadTeacher, Khadija Telela applauded ATCL for seeing the importance of imparting the pupils on environmental conservation knowledge to the pupils.

She said that the school runs a programme of spreading societal education to pupils, which includes environmental education but asked for more support from different stakeholders and partners.“We would like to salute ATCL for these efforts which are worth emulating,” she said.

For sure this is a big shame... instade of thinking of reviving the company... their planting trees...
