PROTEST TO OPPOSE AND STOP UNCONSTITUTIONAL GENERAL MEETING – ASSOCIATION OF TANZANIAN COMMUNITY ATC-METRO

We are the group of Active members of Association of Tanzanian community ATC-Metro and believe in our association Constitution.

The election of new leadership of the Association, which was conducted on Saturday August 9, 2014, was unconstitutional, fraud and deemed void. This historical election was shrouded in mystery agenda and external interference was evident.

Injustices done deliberately by the Electoral Committee and Hamza Mwamoyo, the chief architect of all messy, was fulfilled after ignoring the constitution and Bylaws that govern our association day to day activities. Many association members have expressed their dissatisfaction by the whole process and it has begun to turn sour.
As you have noticed the unconstitutional elected new leadership has moved on and now tries to conduct general meeting to change our current constitution so that they can embolden their grip/ dictatorial power. This is not acceptable and by no any means should be allowed to happen. The matter is already in court of law but regardless of being notified about the disputed election, they have chosen to ignore members concerns and continue to violate our constitution.

If you believe in the rule of law (Justice) please join us in protesting and preserving our constitution by attending the protest match planned to take place on Saturday September 6, 2014 at 4:45PM.

I would like to inform you that the official meeting to resuscitate the organization took place today. For starter, since this thread went on the air, September 2014, the two camps that were involved in this election saga didn't reconcile their differences and as such the organization has been ineffective since then.

If the two camps had had the wisdom to resolve the outstanding election issues outside the judicial system or if they had had the wisdom and the courage to accept the results, even though the results weren't fair, probably they would have maintained the operations of the organization. It is very sad that a vibrant Tanzanian community can't sustain the momentum and the spirit of its organization for two consecutive election periods.

Taking into consideration various challenges that Tanzanians in diaspora face regularly, ideally majority of the community members would prefer their organization to succeeded and serve them well during good and difficult time. However, this has become a distant memory. This is because for many years, people used or wanted to use the organization for personal gains or as a launchpad for their political career. This was wrong and it is imperative to remember that any organization can't sustain the momentum required to execute its mission if its leaders or those inspired to be leaders put their own personal interests at the forefront of the organization.

Also it is imperative to remember that leaders are a reflection of their community. Therefore, Tanzanians, whether inside their home land or outside, shouldn't expect a leader whose leadership characteristics are Chinese. Just be because we are in the USA, it doesn't mean we will run our organizations in the same way other immigrants run their organizations. We aren't there yet. I am not being pessimistic here but I think we should be realistic. We, Tanzanians, have our strengths and limitations. In other words, our community is still in its infancy and there's nothing wrong to stick to what we know best. As we grow and mature, we can learn to take other responsibilities.
