Many Ugandans have complained about unreliable electricity since the Uganda electricity distribution company(UEDCL) took over power distribution from

Claim:
A letter is circulating on X, dated October 23, 2026 and bearing State House letterhead. It claims that President Yoweri Museveni summoned the Managing Director of UEDCL and “his entire management team” to State House, Entebbe, over ongoing power outages
Findings:
UEDCL
Ugandas Electricity distributer flagged the letter as fake. On its official platform, the company disowned the letter and dismissed it as fake.
The letter has internal red flags. Same-day summons: The letter is dated October 23, 2026, the same day as the meeting it demands, at 10:00 a.m. Official summonses to a government agency’s management normally give notice.

No credible evidence was found to support the claim. A review of major media outlets yielded no reports on the alleged summons, while no official statement was issued by the State House or the Ministry of Energy. Additionally, a check of the President’s official social media accounts found no letter or communication confirming such a summons.
Verdict. False
The letter circulating on X is not an authentic communication from the Office of the President. UEDCL has disowned it, no credible source confirms the summons, and the document has several irregularities
