And so it was that Annette basked in the glory of Tony's love. She truly loved him. She noticed John was more at home and cared less about him. She spent more and more time with Tony and they had regular sleep overs when John was out of town.

Annette was losing control. She was so clingy to Tony and was afraid of losing him. But he assured her she was never going to lose him to anyone. J crossed her mind once in a while and she always found missed calls and text messages in her blocked list. Some begged her to come back to him, others threatened her, and others said he loved her still and if he couldn't have her no one could, not John nor Tony. She shrugged and stifled a laugh. She thought of him from time to time and wondered how his Dad was doing. But she knew that if she made just one call, it would rekindle his obsession with her. If only she had known that her greatest pain was cooking.

Annette tried to explain that it was an innocent text message and they should call him which they did. Giulio on the other side sighed at the sound of Annette's wails and screams. He had truly wished to date Annette but she had told him she was in love with a guy named J. That must have been J he thought to himself and shook his head sadly.

Annette's heart broke. She promised herself if she got out of there alive, she would never see J again. And just as suddenly as the beatings started, they stopped and J held her closely and so tight. "I love you Annette. I love you so much. Can't you stay faithful to me?" Annette's body ached all over but the worst pain was coming from her heart. 'What reason have I ever given you to doubt me', said her tears as they rolled down her cheeks. She felt so numb. She did not know what to feel anymore. She remembered Moosa's words. And more tears rolled down her face as J held her hand and they went to catch a bus home. "Don't be so dramatic, wipe the tears off your face. A few slaps was all it was",he said obviously unapologetic.

The battle begun. Annette sat there screaming. She realized this was going to end badly because she knew J and he went rogue when he was in a fit. She had never seen Tony angry. And her Tony right now was dangerous and no amount of pleading was heeded by the two men.

She grabbed the car keys. And ran down stairs from the 10th floor barefoot. She stopped at the liqour store and asked they guy there to help her break up the fight. He started for the 10th floor and Annette drove into the police station. The police did not waste time.

When they went back home. Annette almost collapsed at the wheel. There was a huge gathering outside and children were screaming. All the neighbors were outside and Annette witnessed herself losing consciousness with just one thought in her mind. 'He killed Tony. My God the bastard killed my man'. And she fainted in the middle of the road, right outside her car.
