Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire are set to strengthen diplomatic ties after Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara announced plans to open an embassy in Nairobi following bilateral talks with President William Ruto. The discussions took place ahead of the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.
According to statements from both leaders, the move aims to deepen diplomatic, economic, and trade cooperation between the two African nations. Ouattara said the two countries had agreed to strengthen their diplomatic presence to support stronger engagement and regional collaboration.
President Ruto also confirmed that Kenya will open its first embassy in Côte d’Ivoire, marking a major expansion of Kenya’s diplomatic footprint in West Africa. He noted that the decision reflects a shared commitment to improving trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The leaders further discussed regional cooperation, infrastructure development, and financing for strategic African projects. Ruto also sought support for Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u in her bid for a position at the International Criminal Court.
