CHADEMA has given the police a 24-hour ultimatum to apprehend suspects who have allegedly been attacking his party's leaders during the on-going Arumeru-East by-election campaigns.
Failure to do that, threatened Chadema's Secretary General Dr Wilbroad Slaa, he will personally lead mass protests involving thousands of people from Arumeru marching to the State House, demanding the resignation of police heads."Enough is enough, we have suffered serious attacks from members of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in the past three days, our officials have reported the matter to the police but to our surprise, our suspects have not been arrested and to make matters worse, it is the CCM leaders who claim to be attacked and issue their statements under escort of the police," stated Dr Slaa.
The former presidential candidate was addressing residents of Migungani area in Mbuguni Ward where Meru District borders Simanjiro at Mirerani and said clearly that the mass demo never seen in history of this nation, will involve thousands of Meru and Arusha residents who will walk all the way to Dar es Salaam.
The outspoken politician asked who will join the mass demo and thousands of people who attended the Mbuguni's campaign rally, responded in unison that they were ready to march even at that particular moment (Tuesday Evening).According to Dr Slaa, the opposition has suffered so many mistreatments in the hands of the police, including having election results tampered with to give victory to the ruling party.
He stressed that the police should meet their demands or CHADEMA will mobilize country-wide march from all parts of the country to the State House in protest."As we march from Meru, we are going to communicate with other Tanzanians in every corner of the country to also do the same and all processions will meet in Dar es salaam," vowed Dr Slaa.
