A last-gasp penalty from Tady Etakiama handed AS Vita Club a 2-1 win over Sudanese giants, Al Hilal in their Group A Day Four clash on Sunday in Kinshasa.

Etakiama scored from the spot at the death of the game after Emmanuel Ngudikama was brought down by his marker, and push the Kinshasa based club to the summit of the standings.

Earlier Guy Lusadisu had canceled Mohamed Bashir’s first half opener to set the tone for a heated finish to the game.

A spectacular performance in the late stages by the Congolese turned the game their favour, after being down for a greater part of the game.

Bashir broke the deadlock on 18 minutes, profiting from a Mudathir El-Taieb ‘Careca’ flick before firing past the AS Vita goalie, Nelson Lukong.

The homers had to wait till the 82[SUP]nd[/SUP] minute before Lusadisu restored parity with an acrobatic shot from close range and set the stadium alive.

Few minutes later, Nizar Hamed managed to put the ball behind the back of the net, but his effort was flagged offside. The tide then turned the way of the Congolese and Ngudikama was felled in the penalty area in time added-on, before Etakiama tucked in from the spot to earn them the maximum points.

AS Vita leapt to the summit with seven points, one more than fellows TP Mazembe who were scheduled to face Egyptian giants, Zamalek in the other Group A match in Alexandria.

DR Congo's AS Vita have qualified for the semifinals of the CAF Champions League after picking a vital 1-0 win away to Zamalek on Sunday.

Uganda's youthful striker Yunus Junior Ssentamu netted the lone goal in the 54[SUP]th[/SUP] minute at the Alexandria Stadium to make sure AS Vita joined another Congolese side, TP Mazembe, in the last four.

The five-time African champions failed to utilise home advantage and the numerous scoring opportunities that came their way, only to be punished by the former SC Vipers striker.

Ssentamu, who only joined AS Vita two months ago, was spotted after scoring three goals for Uganda Cranes at the 2014 Africa Nations Championship in South Africa. The win pushes AS Vita to 10 points, second behind TP Mazembe who have a superior goal aggregate

AS Vita will now play their last game against TP Mazembe to decide who tops the group, while Zamalek will make a trip to Khartoum, Sudan to face Al Hilal in a formality match.
