Zimbabwean Vice President John Nkomo has died at the age of 79 after a battle with cancer.
He died in South Africa on Thursday 17 Jan 2013.
Vice-President John Nkomo was on Sunday rushed to South Africa for medical treatment after his health deteriorated, a day after appearing in public at the burial of Retired General Solomon Mujuru at the National Heroes’ Acre in Harare.

Nkomo’s death removes a potential successor to ageing President Robert Mugabe who has his own health problems.
The VP was nominated for the joint number two position alongside Joice Mujuru two years ago after a factitious meeting of the southern African nation's ruling Zanu-PF party.

Mugabe, rival parties agree on new constitution draft

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe says the country’s rival political parties have agreed on a new constitution draft that will be put to a referendum before the upcoming elections.

"We are glad to say that we have come to the conclusion of the exercise and all parties are agreed," Mugabe said at a news conference on Thursday, but did not say when the referendum will be held.

Mugabe reached an agreement on the final draft of the constitution with his arch-rival Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai during a meeting in the capital Harare.
