Ningependa kushirikisha mawazo yangu ili kuibua mjadala kuhusu bandari ya Kisumu ambayo punde tu itakusanya marais 5 kuizindua. Nimefikiria sana kuhusu hii bandari umuhimu wake kwa sasa, bado sijapata muunganiko wake.
Bandari ya Kisumu iliacha kufanyakazi zaidi ya miaka 12 iliyopita, sababu kubwa iliyosababisha kudorora pamoja na mambo menigine, ni kutokana na wafanyabiashara wengi wa Uganda kutumia usafiri wa reli na barabara, ambao ukipakia "cargo", hazishushwi hadi Uganda, yaani gharama za upakiaji na ushushaji ni Mara mbili tu.
Kwasababu hiyo, reli ya kuelekea Kisumu ilikosa mizigo na kuachwa ikajifia kabisa, kutokana na naekezo ya James Macharia, reli kuelekea Kisumu inahitaji kujengwa upya sio kukarabatiwa. Swali ninalojiuliza, kama hakuna reli inayoelekea Kisumu, je bandari ya Kisumu inaungana vipi na Mombasa, au Kisumu Port haitegemei mizigo ya Uganda na DRC?.
Bila shaka "Kisumu port" lengo lake ni hizi nchi za Uganda na DRC, je itatumia mfumo upi wa usafirishaji ambao utakua ni bei nafuu na ni haraka. Tumeambiwa bandari ya Mwanza itatumia mfumo wa "Railway - Marine - Railway", ambao ni " integrated ", yaani mabehewa hayashushi mizigo kutoka Dar- hadi Kampala au Jinja Uganda, Kisumu port itatumia mfumo upi kama hakuna reli inayofika Kisumu?.

Yaani Kenya of all the mighty u claim couldn't raise $2 bln to connect Naivasha n Kisumu? What r all those big banks doing if ur yearly big budget can't even set aside $500 mln for SGR Naivasha-Kisumu? If Chinese r expensive, why can't u give that segment to another company?
