This is the Checkered Keelback (Fowlea piscator)— a non-venomous water snake with a hunger for the slippery.
Found lurking near rivers, ponds, and irrigation canals, this serpent doesn’t need fangs or venom to kill. It relies on stealth, strength, and perfect timing. When a fish swims too close to the edge, the snake explodes from its crevice like a whip of muscle and coils around its prey.
It doesn’t chew. It swallows. Whole.
