Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song and Johan Djourou are back in the Arsenal squad for Saturday's clash with Blackpool. The trio missed last weekend's trip to Liverpool through illness, a calf injury and a hamstring strain respectively but all three could start the opening match of the season at Emirates Stadium. Robin van Persie was a late substitute at Anfield and could step up from the bench against Blackpool. But Denilson (groin), Samir Nasri (knee) and Laurent Koscielny (suspension) will not be available while Emmanuel Frimpong (cruciate) is a long-term absentee. ... ..... ....
THEO WALCOTT'S first Arsenal hat-trick brought 10-man Blackpool crashing back to earth.
Walcott was left behind for England's ill-fated World Cup campaign. But he quickly showed his worth to his club side with a devastating treble that left the Seasiders rocking. Ian Holloway's men arrived at the Emirates on a high following their 4-0 thrashing of Wigan last week.
But it took just 12 minutes for Walcott to burst their bubble, rounding off a superb four-man move with a precise finish. Gary Taylor-Fletcher had a glorious chance to equalise but he sent his downward header just wide. Blackpool could not contain Walcott and he turned provider for Marouane Chamakh but his effort was just wide.
Andrey Arshavin's half-volley was brilliantly saved by Matthew Gilks. But the Russian soon doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Ian Evatt slid in on Chamak from behind, although contact appeared to be just outside the box. Referee Mike Jones, though, pointed to the spot, and showed Evatt the red card before Arshavin drove the ball home. A brilliant block from Gilks prevented Chamakh from making it 3-0.
Walcott showed off his improved finishing skills to add the third, though, when he turned Dekel Keinan on the penalty spot and drilled the ball into the far corner. There was no respite for the visitors after the break as Abou Diaby arrived to sweep home Bacary Sagna's low centre.
Walcott completed his hat-trick in the 58th minute when he curled the ball inside the far post after being fed by Diaby. Chamakh shinned a chance over but Blackpool then had to contend with a double Arsenal substitution in the shape of World Cup finalists Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie. With 24 minutes left, Walcott departed to a standing ovation with Carlos Vela replacing him. Chamakh grabbed his first goal in English football on 83 minutes as he nodded home Van Persie's corner.
Arsenal are on the brink of signing centre half Sebastien Squillaci from Sevilla. So who is he and what are they getting for their money? He might sound like a relative of Paul the Octopus, but he's actually a very talented centre half. Born in Toulon, he spent most of his career playing in France before joining Sevilla two years ago.

Reinforcement: Arsenal are set to sign Squillaci
If you prefer you can call him 'Toto' because his surname sounds like that of Salvatore 'Toto' Schillaci, the Italian forward who finished the 1990 World Cup finals as top scorer with six.
A French defender who's past it at Arsenal - so he's the new William Gallas is he?
Not quite. He's three years younger at 30 and Arsene Wenger has handed him a three-year deal, which means there must be plenty of fuel in the tank yet. The Arsenal manager doesn't like to give his veterans extended contracts, but he was getting a little desperate given this summer's exodus of central defenders from the Emirates - Gallas, Sol Campbell, Mikael Silvestre and Philippe Senderos have all moved on. He's lost a whole back four! This guy must have come cheap though. Wrong again. Sevilla rejected a £5m bid but accepted £6.5m after Squillaci refused to play in last week's Champions League qualifier to ensure he was not cup-tied.
A stubborn Frenchman! He wasn't a part of that squad in South Africa was he?
He certainly was. The defender was indirectly caught up in the Raymond Domenech disaster, although by no means a chief player in the revolt. And he didn't even get on the pitch during the World Cup.

No moody Blue: Squillaci was not chief among France's World Cup revolters He sounds average. What's Wenger up to?
Calm down, he's got pedigree. Despite having only 20 caps, he's been a consistent performer for Sevilla and played a key role in Monaco's remarkable run to the Champions League final in 2004. He scored the vital goal at the Bernabeu when they faced Real Madrid in the quarter-finals and was outstanding at Chelsea in the semi. He didn't start the final and Jose Mourinho's Porto scored three goals before he came on.
JOSE MOURINHO last night re-ignited his feud with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger by branding his side as 'Premier League write-offs'.
The Special One mocked the 'Young Gunns' mantra and insisted that yet again the Emirates side will flatter to deceive and their title bid will flop.
Arsenal thrashed Blackpool 6-0 on Saturday after coming from behind to draw with Liverpool in the opening weekend.
Real Madrid boss Mourinho said: "Year after year it looks like, but no, it looks like, but no. Always the same type of comment 'It's a young team', 'It will be next season, it will be next season'.
"Fantastic for Arsene that he signed a new contract. I remember when we played them in a Carling Cup semi-final when they played the 'team of young boys'.
"The 'team of young boys' is not the team of young boys now, they are a team of 25, 26, 27 year olds.
"So Fabregas, Walcott, Clichy, Song and Sagna are not kids, they are a team old enough to win things.
"But they will do it. I think it will again be Manchester United, Chelsea and, of course, Man City, because they have a great squad."
Former Chelsea chief Mourinho had a turbulent relationship with Wenger and his words are certain to infuriate the Frenchman.
Mourinho also stuck the boot into his other bitter rival Rafa Benitez and mocked the man who succeeded him at Inter Milan after getting the chop at Liverpool.
The Portuguese chief slated the Spaniard's Kop reign and claimed the Reds got worse every season Benitez was there since taking over in 2004.
Rafa got the sack after a disastrous season that saw Liverpool finish seventh and lose 19 games in total.
Mourinho said: "I believe Chelsea, United and City, that is it for the title.
"It's very difficult for Roy Hodgson to do it with Liverpool because in the last years they were getting worse and worse and worse.
"The Liverpool of 2004 was better than the Liverpool of 2005 and the 2005 one was better than 2006.
"It is a very difficult job for Roy to make Liverpool into champions. He needs time and it's not easy because I don't think the club went in the right direction and I don't think Arsenal did, too."
Mourinho branded Benitez 'lucky' for going on to manage an Inter side after he turned them into Treble winners last season.
Cocky Mourinho said: "It is not my old job, it is a dream job. And my job at Inter wasn't a dream job. When a coach arrives at a club and in one month he has one match to win the Italian Super Cup, one match to win the European Super Cup and two matches to win the Intercontinental Cup, it is heaven.
"I went to coach Real Madrid and won the Beckenbauer Cup and Alicante Cup.
"And I will try to win the Bernabeu Cup. Normally, when a coach goes to a club he has to build things.
"Benitez goes there and has a team, a club, the players and three cups to win.
"So his job is not a difficult job - it is a dream job.
"I am not so lucky to arrive in a club and have these cups to win in a couple of weeks. He is a lucky manager but I hope he does well because I want the team to win."
Mourinho is adamant his glittering career reached its pinnacle when he arrived at the Bernabeu - but again left the door open for a return to the Premier League.
His star-studded Real kick-off their season at Real Mallorca on Sunday, aiming to end a three-year trophy drought.
Mourinho added: "The last time I didn't win a trophy was when I left Chelsea in September 2007. I didn't have a club.
"I won three titles with Porto in the first year and three in the second.
"With Chelsea, two in the first, two in the second and two in the third. With Inter, two in the first and three in the second.
"One day, I will have a bad season but I hope I will win something with Real.
"That is the ambition of everyone at the club and it is what I want to do for them."
