African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

For guys who are using these fancy sat-meters how do you know when you are getting warmer or colder when fiddling with your dish?
I tried using one today and my initial impression was that it was an overpriced outdoor monitor. I had to call on my tiny buzzo-meter to nab nilesat.
for the price they cost one could almost imagine it could be sent to the roof on its own with instructions

If you need a beeper you turn it on. Or loop through your tiny buzzo-meter. It screams like its mad when you hit green

Hello family,

Is there any interesting bird from overhead to the Eastern horizon in Nairobi since I don't have view towards the west because there is adjacent to our single storey house a multi-storey building blocking the entire west, so I can only try east.

I am currently locked onto Intelsat 20/Eutelsat 70B (90cm Eurostar offset + Inverto Ultra Black) though local channels are all red on my side.

Any help will highly be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yahsat 1a @ 52 east is a good choice. It carries dubai1 HD, AD sports 1&2 HD, the MBCs etc. You need 80cm plus to get a good signal on mena transponders.

You are almost there. Move if slightly upward, not more than 5mm

I think i was moving far too much. Will try tomorow. Anyway landed on Eutelsat 7a (7e), any ujanja left for me to watch channels of substance... Anyone pls.

The best way is to have it on top of 5.0 east. That way you nail two birds on one dish. I did it like that on 80cm. See below.

80?? Good one. Felling two birds with one stone.

what do you have on Astra 4a. euro beam? what else is interesting on ses5 & Astra

There are some etv feeds on astra 4a (sub-sahara beam) that occasionally show champions league matches. Then on ses 5 is the mighty DW, france 24, RT english, NHK, cctv eng etc.

OK. Thanks. I hear if you manage the euro beam, there's nice stuff under power v. but I suppose you require a bigger dish

Thanks cygnusascension, I had tried to lock on it but in essence got Yamal I think 402 whereby among the less than 10 channels I got was Sports Hub, I got disappointed and swung it back to IS20.

I have an Inverto Black Ultra as the main (locked onto IS20) plus 2 Starlifes above as FTA Nash had once combined and posted an image but I didn't succeed.

Kindly detail me on how to add particulars for a new satellite or how to enter a new TP coz my SRT 4922 doesn't have Yahsat among its satellite list and I will be glad.

Thanks.

Hi Munyaga,
For me I never bother adding another satellite. I just look for one in the list but not in use provided has Ku settings already in place (or change lnb frequency to 10600). Blind Scanning will give the Tps auto magically.
Under [Dish Settings] You can also rename existing satellite to whatever you like.
To add frequeny goto INSTALLATION ->MANUAL SCAN ... , press green button and enter desired f, sr and Polarization. To scan Tp just press OK. On exit you will be prompted to save.

Alright, I am in Nairobi on IS20, which direction do I move my dish to lock onto Yahsat?

And the way i was over-joyed for nabbing the euro beam, most of their channels are ??. Anyone with a remedy can inbox me please.
Next assignment is Yahsat, any advice from those who has nabbed it.
