The 7w neighbourhood going gloomy by each passing day.....the only remaining pay tv channels left which are pocket friendly to us around the equator are the MBC HD & MY HD.....For me I would go for MY HD located at Badr coz they offer a variety of channels 48 all in HD an afew in SD.....the beam is tight as per the modulation..

would suggest a BUD to bring it down
happy hunting

Thanks Freddy for this valuable info. Btw are you able to get the MY HD with your 1.65m offset?

I was able to nail MY HD channels here in Kampala with a 130cm offset; a 1.65m offset should bring them down though the beam that covers MY HD favors K'la slightly relative to Nairobi

Where Kampala can one buy the myhd decoder plus how much may it cost

you buy it from local resellers or you can buy it online then load to a supporting box. Very stable on nilesat 7w but if you can nab hotbird you will enjoy to the maximum. Dqcam is very stable and cheap

anyone selling dqcam, and what is the price ? can u use it with other decoders other than qsat?

So where can i get one......

Basing on kungu1's post, Kenya is a viable option - he can correct me if I'm wrong. The other being through someone that'll be traveling from MENA. There may be dealers in Kampala but because of my bias towards them (For God & my Country), I see them charging you twice what's charged in Kenya.

So how much may it be in Kenya

Edson you are lucky the beam covers half of Uganda

With the 165cm offset am receiving just about 20channels the aljazeera transponder being the highest.
With 8PSK modulation on the Pan Arab beam of Badr5 is making ti difficult
I will be trying a bigger dish and report on the find:bange:

Interesting analysis on the image!
It's unfortunate that you only get about 20 channels. I thought 35cm more on dish diameter is supposed to cater for a significant gain. And are you able to receive Eutelsat 25B / Es'hail-1 @ 25.5°E with your 1.65m offset?

Hello thea....to my surprise am receiving all transponders of Es'hail coming to a conclusion the recent launched satellites have a good signal as the footprint extends well beyond their projected drawings.....an example is Yahsat where the mena beam can be received with a 90cm in Nairobi....

How did you acquire a 165cm offset dish? These ends in Kampala, they can be found on roofs but not in shops. I'm itching to land one.
