African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Hello members,
I tried the setup below (17E-main sat and 5E) from highlands patron and succeeded, the tps on both sats are at the maximum level plus I managed to pull in 7E as well. Tried the same for 7W and 8W and failed miserably, it seems the sats are too close together.

So yesterday I tilted down my 7W setup to receive 8W and yet again after endless tweaking to strike a balance between 7W and 8W I lost CNN, MTV, BBC, Press TV, Dubai one among others but gained the whole MBC package plus Aljazeera America, and KTV2. That is a sacrifice I am not willing to swallow. Returned the setup the way it was before and lost all the MBCs. I cannot do without a daily dose of International News. To all members thinking about sacrificing some Nilesat 201 goodies for the MBCs, know that if you just buy an extra 90cm dish like I am planning you will get everything. The best thing to sacrifice is your spare cash. By tomorrow evening I will have setup the extra dish aimed at 8W and enjoy Top Gear Top 41 on MBC Action and also get my daily dose of International News from the 7W setup.

Hassan Ali managed to almost fill up an entire page with the IPTV links, my phone cannot go beyond his post on page 300. I had to get to a computer just to write this post. If any one replies to his message us ASAS victims using our phones will miss out on many posts.

Actually you may need larger than 90cm dish. 8w signals are very weak in some places. I tried today with 90cm in Thika with dismal results. Shame the beam is for east africa & ME and yet is much weaker than MENA beam over most of east africa. Compare with 5e and 7e which are much easier to combine on one lnb.

With my 130cm, I have the MBC Package, Al-Jazeera America coming in at 64% and 7 west transponders doing 80% some 100% like top movies etc.. I cannot Nab CNN and Dubai One on 201 but am content , so long as I have MBC and Fox et al..wonder what will grab the 12322 V space once the notice goes..ama they are still leasing it even when not showing anything? I hope its temporary though, cuz in rain, the MBC on 8 west in my setup shatters 🙁 No.. am not moving the dish..

Yeah, I did the same just changed the coding on the transponders on my BeIN decoder and voila, by the way you can enjoy Aljazeera, and QTV movies

Hi Kungu1...what about the other East African Countries, can we also enjoy these like in Kenya? How...?

My humble request. Forum members posting signal quality percentages, success stories on combining 7W, 8W could you kindly include location and decoder model. One might be sharing achievements made in Southern Sudan (or Lodwar) while a forum member in Zambia (or Mombasa) is struggling to achieve the same.

[h=1]Measat-3b lands in French Guiana
measat-3b-300x167.jpg
[/h]Payload preparations for Arianespace’s next Ariane 5 mission are gearing up following this week’s delivery of Measat-3b – one of two satellite passengers for launch on the heavy-lift flight VA218 – to French Guiana. This spacecraft was transported by a chartered An-124 cargo jetliner that landed at Félix Eboué International Airport near the capital city of Cayenne, and was unloaded for its transfer by road to the Spaceport.
In parallel activity, this mission’s Ariane 5 was moved today from the Launcher Integration Building to the Final Assembly Building – marking its delivery to Arianespace by vehicle prime contractor Airbus Defense and Space. With this step completed, the workhorse launcher is ready for integration of its dual-satellite payload.
MEASAT-3b – which was produced by Airbus Defence and Space based on the Eurostar E3000 platform – will be operated by Measat to support direct-to-home broadcast services for Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Australia. Positioned at 91.5 degrees East, Measat-3b will be co-located with the Measat-3 and Measat-3a satellites to form a robust Asian
direct-to-home neighborhood.
Joining MEASAT-3b as its Ariane 5 flight co-passenger is Optus 10, which was produced by SSL (Space Systems/Loral) for Australian telecommunications service provider Optus. It is outfitted with 24 Ku-band transponders to provide direct TV broadcast, internet connectivity, telephone and data transmission services for Australia and New Zealand.
Designated Flight VA218 in Arianespace’s numbering system, this upcoming mission represents the 218th launch of an Ariane family vehicle.

[h=1]Anomaly detected in Amazonas 4A

amazonas-4a__1-300x186.jpg

Hispasat has said that an anomaly has been detected in the Amazonas 4A's initial performance.Following the launch of the Amazonas 4A from the Kourou base in French Guiana on board Arianespace's Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle and its subsequent positioning in the geostationary orbit, an anomaly has been detected in the satellite's performance related to the power subsystem.
Hispasat and Orbital, the company responsible for the satellite's construction, are looking into the possible cause of this anomaly and taking corrective action. The satellite is currently secure in its geostationary orbit in the position where in orbit tests will be conducted.
Hispasat said the economic impact on the Hispasat Group of a fault or delay in the entry-into-service of Amazonas 4A would be negligible because the satellite's insurance policy covers all potential incidents. There would also be no disruption to the services provided to customers because a contingency plan is in place.

[h=1]Success for Amazonas 3 and Africasat launch
Ariane-V212.jpg

Ariane 5 provided another record payload lift performance during its year-opening dual-passenger flight on Thursday evening, February 7 from the Spaceport in French Guiana.Thursday's launch orbited the Amazonas 3 and Azerspace/Africasat-1a telecommunications satellites, delivering a total calculated mass into geostationary transfer orbit of 10,317 kg – that included 9,503 k. for the two spacecraft, along with the dispenser system and integration hardware in Ariane 5's dual payload "stack."
"This performance demonstrates once again the pertinence of our improvement policy, which enables us to augment the capacity of our launcher, all while maintaining its reliability," said Arianespace Chairman and CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall in post-launch comments at the Spaceport.
Le Gall noted that the smooth countdown to Ariane 5's liftoff at 18.36 local time in French Guiana highlights the competence and maturity of Arianespace's launch teams, which are trained to oversee operations with the company's launcher family trio.
Ariane 5 deployed its Amazonas 3 and Azerspace/Africasat-1a passengers on a mission lasting just under 37 minutes.
Riding in the upper position of Ariane 5's payload "stack," Amazonas 3 was released first during the flight. This satellite for the Hispasat Group was produced by Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, California, and is to operate from a 61 degrees West longitude orbital slot.
Equipped with 33 Ku-band and 19 C-band transponders, along with nine Ka-band spot beams, Amazonas 3 will provide telecommunications relay services that include direct-to-home television (DTH), corporate fixed and mobile telephone networks, and broadband capacity with coverage across the Americas, Europe, and North Africa.
Azerspace/Africasat-1a was then separated from Ariane 5, starting the career for the first-ever national Azerbaijan satellite launched by Arianespace. It was produced by Orbital Sciences Corporation in Dulles, Virginia, under contract to the Republic of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies for the country's national satellite operator, Azercosmos. The platform has 24 C-band transponders and 12 Ku-band transponders to deliver communications coverage over Azerbaijan, Central Asia, Europe and Africa from an orbital location of 46 degrees East longitude.

MIPTV 2014 – CANNES. SatLink Communications has announced the launch of a new DVB-S2 platform on Eutelsat's Hot Bird satellite. In coordination with Sky Italia, an Italian digital satellite television platform, the cost effective service has been developed to meet the growing demand for HD content on a premium satellite to reach direct to home and the cable, satellite and pay-TV markets and will provide the highest audience penetration across Europe.
Located at 13.0 degrees East, the new Hotbird DVB-S2 platform will support the delivery of HD channels to the European cable, satellite and pay-TV platforms and will provide international broadcasters with the ability to effectively distribute its HD and SD content. 🙂 Alternatively, guys should update their profiles to show their location. Makes it much easier to direct fellow ASAS sufferers to where they can access rehabilitation services 🙂

Hi man, i use a zuku decoder, and i hav trying to get fta channels apart from the ones in zuku zone,
what can i do.
Regards

Hi bena1, for starters not all Zuku decoders are capable of doing free to air scannig. If your Zuku decoder is similar to the one shown below, then you are good to go. Its the current very light black decoder that comes on a COMBACT BROWN BOX.

Its simple. Go to MENU-DVBS INSTALATION-SINGLE SATELITE SEARCH-SEARCH-OK.

Of course you must first lock onto your satelite of interest before doing the search. You may use your meter, any other fta decoder, etc to do that. The reason bieng this particular Zuku decoder cannot be keyed in manually. Ok.

If you fail to capture channels even after doing the search, dont worry. Go to MENU-DVBS INSTALATION-TP LIST( here's the trick: scroll to and select your prefered transponder but let the symbol rate alone guide you) - then PRESS BLUE BUTTON on your remote)- finally press OK.

If you fail again, then do a simple Factory Reset and try again. Problem solved! Overall Zuku decoder is a good cheap fta mpeg-4 decoder. If you are in Nairobi buy it @ ADIA ELECTRONICS, NYAMAKIMA for just Ksh. 2500* or less.

I bought this inverto black pro hoping to nab the elusive MBC bouquette on 8w here at the coast; but the results were disappointing. It even performed poorly than the Stargold fuji. Still pondering on the next move. Could there be anyone at the coast receiving 8w on a 6' dish?

On Sunday I tried different lnb's on 7E and obtained the following results on my satlink 6912. With quality of over 20% on the meter the channel is watchable without crackingView attachment 151582View attachment 151584View attachment 151581
Amazing that guest channel with 50% quality on 4922 is stable, while the rest if below 58% are cracking alot. You have to support the lnb arm (as on the attached photos) to obtain to gain maximum quality. I will be testing on 180cm primefocus during the easter

Hey, how does one assemble a 180cm pf dish up there?
Indeed Easter blessings to you all...

As for you Permie, its nice you have The Guest Channel. Gauging by those snapshots, you sure need enginering feats acquired from NAT GEO GOLD to fix those dishes. Unaishi juu ya Skyscraper nini? Good luck man.
