African Satellite World and Sat Gear

i have visited several
transmitter sites and did some evaluation mostly on mast and tower
height plus repeater infrastructure.pang was outclassed no wonder
clients complain no signal and still (scratches).it fails
short, startimes guyed mast are 50 metres tall while other media adjacent
like sayare has a longer 110 to be precise.we all know that height
matters alot on los transmission.i do ope our media houses will share
their infrastructure and fast track digital penetration before the
september deadline in nairobi.

Nice analysis. Now any one on 68.5E will see that there are changes. Is this the start of the Kenyan Mux? Do a blind scan and tell us what you think.

hey guys a pal of mine has gotten an offer for qsat Q11G at a good price was told monthly data rate is btw 25-50mbs is it true and how does qsat work?

Someone is offering me an Astrovox VSR-9000HD is it good enough
I do not know the deal you have but I would rather go for strong srt4922 as the better option. Believe me you will never regret!
Point to note: VSR-9000HD freezes a lot.

it is a good one. i am using it. what are you on,currently? i was on a technosat T-888 silver, which is a good receiver(the ping sound when you lock onto your desired signal acts as a signal detector even when you are out.). But it is only DVB-S,MPEG-II, and no HD at all. i still use it as a signal detector. detects everything even if it will not know what to do with the signal:wink:

have had the VSR-9000HD for two moons and no freezes so far. works as advertised. look at it this way, pay through the nose for a strong with facilities you will never use and maybe get a totally fake unit:A S angry🙁counterfeiters keep pace with your warnings) as a newbie or get the VSR-9000HD for a song(as not many people want it) and it is quite adequate as a HD receiver? whatchya gonna go with?
then of course you might be in the "more money than sense " and buy "the very latest/best". i am in the "mostly sensible and broke":smow: category. that is fair warning for all those wanting to follow me, i think.

I bought vsr9000hd in 2012 at ksh 12000 by then it was just into market. I have suffered silently with this decoder for all hese years before ( like most members in the house) I settled for strong. May be you should ask for advice on the many features of strong since many of us are using them fully. The cost for srt 4922 is around ksh6500 and we normally buy from a special real authorized seller of these products. By the way vsr 9000 is obsolete. It lacks support and the last time its software was released was 27/09/2012. Check here: http://www.ast-micsupport.com/astrovox1.htm
So I will think twice before I dump this unworthy product neglected by its Chinese creator into my house. It is not worth it. Open your eyes and go for quality you can appreciate.

Note, with strong you can open the goodies of Di*gi*tur*k provided you have installed appropriate patch. So please it is ill informed to speak out of context of what some of us adore.

The heigt does not really matter but it's a factor among the coverage area, transmitter power power, transmitter arrangement among others. Example a transmitter with power of about 2.3Mw is able to cover a radius of about 80km the best in Kenya was signet in Nakuru at about 4Mw which reached Eldoret but the power was reduced.

I have used astrovox vsr 9000hd for sometimes and i have vast experience to advise a person. I would rather advise a person to go for strong 4922hd over astrovox vsr 9000hd. I happen to load new patch on astrovox vsr 9000hd and while in the process of updating software, power went off and the decoder was fried.I tried all means of reviving it but all my efforts were fruitless. Till date the receiver is redundant.Strong receivers can be revived if fried unlike astrovox vsr 9000hd. For card sharing, astrovox vsr 9000hd freezes alot especially if connected to multi satellites via diseq switch. Astrovox receivers do not provide software updates regularly unlike strong receivers. Thats my take. The choice lies to individual himself.

Am in the processs of buying a stargold Fuji lnb for use with 1.8pf, will it improve reception inorder to get 7e goodies? I have tried to use normal ku lnb but it generally perfumes better on 90cm dish

Sure. Most tps apart from nat geo one which requires very high precision of dish plus lnb alignment. Make sure you go for a prime focus lnb.

height matters alot especially in a terrain area.i have never heard of a mw output transmission power in kenya.most transmitter output range from 1-15kilowatts.here is an upgrade of gotv
The transmitter, based in Limuru, boasts of
increased transmitter power of 6 Kilowatts
(KW), up from 2KW with a mast height of
120 metres. The upgrade will see the
antennae gain boost its signal reach to
Naivasha, Gilgil, parts of Kajiado and Embu.
“The upgrade of the Limuru transmitter
firmly placesGOtv in a pivotal role
incontributing tohelping the country to
achieve its set target in the migration from
analogue to digital TV transmission,”

what of 1.8 m dish?

I once tried to combine 36e and 7w on a 1.8m prime focus with 7w as the main but did not succeed. However I wasn't using prime focus lnbs. You could try aiming at a point midway between the two birds and have the lnbs on either side of the focal point. With advantage try having ses5 at the focus or eutelsat 7a etc etc

i gambled and tried new software for SRT 4922 HD and it didn‘t fail me. Great pic quality, EPG is back , quick remote response and more
